Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is to provide a full range of rehabilitation services designed to restore patients to their optimal functional capacity. This individual assists directly or indirectly with patient treatments and other patient care activities under supervision of a Physical or Occupational Therapist, as well as carrying out non-patient care activities. Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification or UC Davis Health CPR.
  • Minimum 1-year direct patient care.
  • Basic knowledge in Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy
  • Advanced judgment skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with hospital staff in a clear, concise, professional manner.
  • Knowledge of appropriate information required for patient and supply record keeping. Still in organizing written material.
  • Skills and ability to work in stressful situations.
  • Tact and diplomacy skills.
  • Ability to provide and accept guidance and criticism.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of email, Excel, Word, and ability/willingness to learn additional computer programs and systems.
  • Must see well enough to observe patient reactions and read relevant monitors, relevant device settings, and relevant written information.
  • Must hear and speak well enough to communicate with patients and staff throughout the day.
  • Must possess the physical strength to assist with patient mobility.
  • Must possess sufficient mobility to traverse the distances required to serve patients throughout the institution.
  • Must have basic computer skills. Must be able to occasionally work in the main hospital (acute care and/ or inpatient rehab setting). Must be able to work weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in a customer related field.
  • Hospital based work experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • 70% - Assists therapists with patient treatment and patient care activities for routine patients, as directed by a therapist from predetermined therapy treatment plan.
  • 10% - Provides Support and Staff Training.
  • 10% - Miscellaneous Assignments as Required
  • 5% - Miscellaneous and Housekeeping Duties.
  • 5% - Provides primary and backup services for ordering system.

Work Environment
