The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Senior Suicide Prevention Training Specialist is an integral part of reducing veteran suicide and promoting awareness through suicide prevention and intervention efforts both internally and externally. The Senior Suicide Prevention Training Specialist supports the Triage leadership team by providing suicide prevention training, and suicide prevention program evaluation, including analysis of programmatic Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), analysis of service delivery metrics, and analysis of program financials, to meet the services needs of warriors and families.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead suicide prevention training curriculum to maximize the impact on strategic measurement scales.

  • Facilitate training and provide support to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure competency and alignment with established curricula across Mental Health and Wellness teams.

  • Expand training and intervention by developing postvention curriculum.

  • Promote access to additional prevention training programs including but not limited to training additional trainers.

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth flow of training, reinforcement of concepts, and minimal duplication of instruction.

  • Work collaboratively with the Mental Health Triage team to implement and analyze early detection measures and appropriate interventions.

  • Design and execute monitoring processes, including conducting file audits, assessments, documenting results, and analyzing data trends.

  • Generate database and budget reports on a regular basis for leadership.

  • Work with other WWP staff to develop and implement processes to ensure grant compliance.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for collaboration with IT, Metrics, and Marketing/Media teams.

  • Establish course objectives, program presentations, and participant manuals for all trainings.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for suicide prevention initiative.

  • Conduct internal and external program briefs.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, develop, and deliver organizational and programmatic material, content, and comprehensive, professional training materials.

  • Effective group presentation and facilitation skills. Confident communicator with demonstrated ability to present information effectively to audiences, e.g., large groups, small groups, and individuals. Professional presence and demeanor.

  • Demonstrated commitment to community service and philanthropy and understanding of successful grant acquisitions supporting non-profit organizations.

  • Understanding and expertise in program and project management, including the assessment of outcomes and impact, and effectively manage programs and projects from strategy through execution.

  • Self-motivated, possessing an outgoing and personable demeanor, along with a proven track record of effectively engaging and building positive relationships with diverse populations.

  • Demonstrated ability to create data visualizations to communicate programmatic and organizational impact.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze information to identify problems and solve issues using the most effective solutions.

  • Proven capacity for proactively taking initiative and thriving in independent work environments.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Highly motivated, passionate, and creative team player with demonstrated commitment to the organization's mission.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Wounded Warrior Project and its mission, values, programs, and services, and the impact of these programs and services on wounded warriors and their families.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Five years of experience working with veteran-focused mental health programming or case management and assisting military and veteran populations in support of their mental health well-being and readjustment.

  • Three years of experience delivering or facilitating training for adult learners.

  • Two years of experience in program metrics.

  • Two years of experience in business management, grant-making, strategy consulting, impact investing, finance management, program metrics, philanthropic capital, or grants.

Preferences

  • Seven years of experience working with and providing support to wounded service members who are dealing with both visible and invisible injuries, e.g., brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and combat stress.

  • Five years of experience designing curriculum-based training for adult learners.

  • Five years of experience delivering mental health training to adult learners.

  • Three years of experience in program metrics.

  • Three years of experience in business management, grant-making, strategy consulting, impact investing, finance management, program metrics, philanthropic capital, or grants.

EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, clinical psychology, rehabilitation counseling, case management, health services administration, or related mental health field.

Preferences

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, clinical psychology, rehabilitation counseling, case management, health services administration or related mental health field.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE

Requirements

  • Valid state-issued driver's license.

  • Ability to obtain ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Training) Certification within 1 year of hire.

Preferences

  • ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Training) Certification.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office environment: temperature controlled.

  • Up to 50% travel.

For Colorado Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $79,027 - $98,784 annual base salary,subject to a candidate's combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.

For San Diego or Sacramento, California and Washington Stat Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $86,553 - $108,192 annual base salary,subject to a candidate's combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.

For Los Angeles or San Francisco, California Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $90,316 - $112,896 annual base salary,subject to a candidate's combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.

For New York Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $94,080 - $117,600 annual base salary,subject to a candidate's combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
