Job Summary

The Analyst position requires the ability to work accurately and independently under the stress of competing priorities. Assignments are often given on a project basis and the individual is expected to manage the

entire problem solving process: gather and sort information, identify potential solutions. and present the finished product in the form of written recommendation or completed project. In addition, it is often the responsibility of the individual to apply certain knowledge and/or training to identify issues and solve problems. The position requires high level of professionalism and diplomacy.

The coordinator must work with a high degree of independence and must possess superior communication skills. Key responsibilities include strategic planning and development; compliance and accreditation; and oversight of the application, interview, orientation. and reporting process. and performs other duties as assigned.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $29.05 - $53.50 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

Clinical Laboratories at UCSF Medical Center perform diagnostic or lab tests for patients in our hospitals and clinics as well as for our researchers. These tests are performed in the areas of chemistry, hematology or blood, immunology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, toxicology and transfusion medicine. Laboratories are located at our China Basin, Mount Zion and Parnassus campuses. These labs perform more than 4.2 million tests a year.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and 1 or more years of related work experience; and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Prior experience at an academic institution managing students, fellowships or residents
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suites application
  • IT computer networks; Troubleshoot desktop printers
  • Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs. Competence in Microsoft Outlook, Word and EXCEL ; ability to gain competence with PubMed; ability to gain competence with MyExpense; ability to gain competence with Advance
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to communicate verbally, in writing and over the telephone and be able to provide professional and courteous administrative support; must have basic administrative skills; works well in a team/collaborative setting. Interact professional and collaboratively with others.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Must process the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines; well organized & detailed oriented; must be able to set priorities, be flexible as to assignment; must be able to rapidly assimilate new information; ability to prioritize assignments and meet established deadlines individually
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to Use sound judgment in responding Io issues and concerns.
  • Great attention to detail, accuracy and follow-up

  • UCSF Systems: SRS, Weblinks, OLPPS, Peoplesoft. BearBuy
  • Knowledge of E-Value and Online Payroll System
  • UCSF experience
