1238 - Sr Systems Engineer

Summary

This position will support the Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC), primarily in Dahlgren, VA. SCSTC's overall mission is to provide the United States Navy and our allies with highly trained warfighters to maintain, operate, and tactically employ surface combat systems across the spectrum of operations. We are looking to hire experienced Senior Systems Engineers to support the development and integration of Navy electronic training systems and electronic combat systems. They will serve as technical leaders within a cross-disciplinary team, focusing on the design, development, prototyping, and integration of cutting-edge solutions. These engineers will also contribute to cybersecurity compliance as part of the DoD Cybersecurity Workforce.

Essential Functions

The Sr. Systems Engineer position will be responsible for:

• Lead the development, integration, and testing of electronic training systems and electronic combat system hardware and software for Navy applications leveraging the COAST, CAST, and STAVE-CS products
• Analyze and document system requirements, designs, and test plans in alignment with Navy and DoD standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to explore and implement innovative training techniques, emerging technologies, and virtual work environments.
• Develop prototypes and conduct experiments to assess the effectiveness of new training methodologies and document outcomes for further refinement.
• Integrate Learning Management Systems (LMS) into training architectures, ensuring seamless compatibility with UNIX and Windows environments.
• Ensure systems comply with DoDM 8140.03 requirements, achieving and maintaining certification as an Intermediate-Level System Developer.
• Maintain adherence to Cybersecurity Workforce (CWF) continuous education and training requirements, including annual submission of training records to SCSTC Cyber Workforce Program Manager.
• Provide technical mentorship and knowledge-sharing to junior team members.

Required Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in the development of Navy electronic training systems and systems integration of electronic combat systems (hardware and software).
• DoDM 8140.03 Intermediate-Level System Developer certification (valid at proposal submission and maintained throughout the contract period).
• Continuous Education Units (CEUs) in compliance with Cybersecurity Workforce (CWF) requirements.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Advanced knowledge of Navy-specific electronic combat systems, architectures, and operational contexts.
• Familiarity with Cybersecurity tools and compliance frameworks applicable to Navy training systems.
• Experience executing Navy combat systems or training system programs under DoD acquisition processes.
• Experience performing development using Agile methodologies and other modern software development lifecycle practices.
• Expertise in NAVSEA or NAVAIR programs, with a deep understanding of the Navy's operational and training environments.
• Strong technical writing skills, particularly for technical documentation.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in dynamic and high-pressure environments.
• GIAC Global Industrial CyberSecurity Professional (GICSP)

Eligibility Qualifications

U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (if required).
