Overview

Job Purpose

The Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE) presents a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and address complex business challenges in the financial sector. This position plays a key role in testing and delivering regulation applications, while supporting all stages of the Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC).

The successful candidate will be able to multitask in a dynamic team-based environment, while demonstrating strong problem-solving, extensive technical skills, decision-making abilities and the highest level of professionalism. The candidate is also expected to have a strong programming etiquette and excellent business knowledge/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams to build test scenarios during requirements and coding phases.
  • The candidate needs to be able to understand software internals & debug problems using log files.
  • Work with databases to run queries or make updates to database data or schema.
  • Develop solutions to do functional, technical, failover and performance testing across the entire stack - application, database, hardware, firmware, OS and network.
  • Perform analysis of data from QA and production to build testing tools and test scenarios.
  • Take the initiative to improve efficiencies across systems/projects.
  • Support operations, including executing process validations, methodology and audits.
  • Maintain testing and analysis tools; identify any negative changes to both QA and production environments and work with cross-functional teams to resolve those concerns.

Knowledge and Experience

Minimum qualifications: The Quality Engineer (QE) applicant is expected to have the following skills and experience on appointment:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant QE experience involving application development, deployment and testing.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience on RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL or MSSQL) & Linux (Red Hat preferred).
  • Familiarity with job schedulers (such as Tidal/Airflow), to create or execute defined jobs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with focus on delivering high quality products.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and customer support skills.
  • Intermediate programming/scripting knowledge in Java, Python, Perl, Java Script or Shell Scripting.
  • Experience with automation processes and testing tools.
  • Ability to work in a highly demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently on multiple projects.
  • Ability to differentiate between a critical business impacting incident and a minor problem, and resolve/escalate accordingly.
  • Good understanding of all stages of the Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with trading and financial applications is a plus.
  • Experience with supporting production changes, UAT testing and debugging prod issues.
  • Knowledge and experience working with trading platforms and surveillance systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work with vague or incomplete requirements and help improve requirements quality.

Schedule

This role offers work from home flexibility of one day per week.

New York and California Base Salary Range

The expected base salary for this role if located in New York City or California is between 92,700 - 126,700 USD. The base salary range does not include Intercontinental Exchange's incentive compensation. While we provide this range as general guidance, at ICE we compensate employees based on the skillset and experience of the individual.
