About the Job PolicyLab is a research center within CHOP's Research Institute that aims to achieve optimal health and well-being by informing program and policy changes through interdisciplinary research. The Senior Manager Communications with PolicyLab will impact the organization's mission by setting and advancing its communications strategy, raising its visibility, promoting its research, and supporting its policy agenda. In addition to working collaboratively with PolicyLab's policy team and research leadership on strategies to advance the organization's priorities, the Senior Manager will manage a team of communications professionals and provide direct support to PolicyLab faculty on translation and dissemination of their research to internal and external audiences. The PolicyLab Senior Manager Communications position requires a background in health and/or research translation, knowledge of media relations, experience with people management, and a passion for health equity. It requires a willingness to both drive strategy and dive in on execution. Additionally, a strong foundation in writing and the ability to work well on and across teams are keys to success in this role. The Senior Manager Communications for PolicyLab, serves on the center's Leadership Council and reports to the Deputy Director, Policy & Strategy.
What you will do
- Develops and implements the overall PolicyLab strategic communications agenda, including expanding the organization's communications capabilities and strategizing on how to diversify content shared externally; managing the development of strategic communications plans related to research portfolios and high-profile research; and aligning communications goals and planning with policy and research priorities, working closely with the Deputy Director, Policy & Strategy and senior research leadership
- Manages a team of communications professionals and together with them executing strategic communications plans for disseminating research; managing vendor relationships; developing and implementing strategies to grow website visitors and increase engagement; creating editorial content including blog posts, op-eds, and videos; partnering with policy and research teams on production of policy tools; managing external and internal email newsletters to deliver content to targeted audiences; executing PolicyLab's social media strategy; developing and disseminating PolicyLab's external and internal annual reports; and organizing and promoting center-hosted events
- Oversees PolicyLab's public relations strategy, including media outreach, working closely with the CHOP Public Relations team when appropriate
- Manages PolicyLab's internal communications channels, ensuring all team members are informed on updates and center business
- Serves as point of contact on behalf of the organization for media and other external partners
- Additional preferred criteria may include:

Education
- Bachelor's Degree Communications or related field Required
- Master's Degree in a related field Preferred
Experience
- At least eight (8) years of relevant communications experience Required
- At least five (5) years of relevant research or non-profit experience Preferred
- At least five (5) years of leadership, managment or supervisory experience Preferred
