Maintenance Technician

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general repairs to refinery mechanical equipment as needed including pumps, compressors, fans, turbines, gearboxes, motors, etc.
Perform specific repairs to refinery mechanical equipment including seal replacements, bearing replacements, alignment, lubrication, clearance adjustments, etc.
Perform some minor machining work, as necessary.
Assist with basic rigging which involves the selection and use of equipment for rigging and transporting materials and equipment.
Use, as needed, basic machine shop equipment including hydraulic press, drill press, grinders, oxy-acetylene torch, overhead crane, etc.
Operate mobile equipment that includes, at a minimum, forklift and small crane.
Use precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, etc.
Assist other crafts as needed in maintaining refinery equipment
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) year technical degree desirable, preferably in a mechanical field.
Minimum of 5 years experience in mechanical machinery repairs, preferably with an industrial facility.
Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate with technicians, supervisors, managers, etc. as needed
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry as they pertain to maintenance activities
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to analyze situations and determine the most efficient and practical solution to the problem specified
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
