Title: Engineer IV - Structural

Location: 1050 SW 6th Avenue Suite 1010, Portland, OR, 97204

Duties:Provide conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design support for various structure types, including bridges, port/waterfront structures, underground structures, and retaining structures. Conduct site inspections, investigations, and monitoring to support condition assessment and asset management activities. Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final design calculations, plans, and specifications. Develop construction cost estimates by estimating quantities and costs of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility and to support bidding activities. Review, assist with, and modify reports, specifications, and studies. Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and clients by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Utilize cutting-edge software with a "digital by default" approach. Up to 10% domestic travel may be required to support site inspection activities. Position reports into Portland, OR office; however, telecommuting from a home office may be allowed.

Requirements: Requires a Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a directly related field plus three years of experience as a Structural Engineer or related occupation involving experience in evaluating, analyzing, or designing of marine, bridge, or other transportation structures.

Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:

Three (3) years in each of the following:



  • Gathering and analyzing relevant information, and using methodical approach to evaluate structural conditions, prepare database of structural information, review structural calculations, or solve structural design and analysis problems
  • Producing accurate technical drawings, reports, or research presentations.



Two (2) years in each of the following:



  • Developing computer models using SAP2000, LPILE, or other software to represent structures and perform structural analyses
  • Performing bridge asset management including conducting condition inspections and evaluation of element deterioration.



One (1) year in each of the following:



  • Preparing structural designs or analyzing steel, concrete, or timber transportation structures, including highway bridges, waterfront structures, retaining walls, foundations, or other transportation structures.
  • Applying the principles of structural dynamics or earthquake engineering.



Qualified candidates must have a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
