Senior Process Development Chemist

Role Specific Responsibilities:

• Develops synthetic routes that are safe, efficient, cost-effective, environmentally friendly, andwell-suited for commercial operations
• Leads all aspects of process chemistry development for focused new process chemistry initiatives.
• Explores, identifies, and understands opportunities for process chemistry development and support to enhance business growth and productivity.
• Keeps abreast of trends in the specialty chemicals industry and communicates opportunities and challenges to the rest of the organization.
• Converts technical information into appropriate language and level for external and internal technical and commercial audiences.
• Collaborates with business unit technical teams for the development and support of new product introductions to plant operations.
• Serves as a project manager as well as participates as a team member on new processdevelopment and engineering projects.
• Becomes an active member of the global technology team and provides expertise, consultation, and recommendations as assigned.
• Works directly with engineering and operations teams to develop new ideas to derive value.

Education and Qualifications:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related technical discipline

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years hands-on laboratory experience developing new process chemistry
• Experience performing common organic reactions (e.g., nucleophilic substitution, electrophilic substitution, electrophilic addition, elimination, oxidation, reduction, Diles- Alder, condensation, esterification)
• Experience transitioning processes from the laboratory to pilot to commercial scale.
• Experience performing analytical methodologies (e.g., NMR, MS, IR, GC, HPLC) and/or interpreting their results.
• Experience searching scientific literature and technical database structures
• Established technical contacts within the industrial and professional society communities that foster learning, technology development, and potential new business opportunities.

• Capable at providing efficient customer service and technical support for sales and business development activities.

• Ability to travel up to 10% in support of pilot or plant trials.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
