Hatch Bank is a technology-first sponsor bank, primarily focused on serving Fintechs and other innovative Brands to bring creative solutions to market. We are looking for a Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will be a creative-problem solver, solution driven, to drive operational excellence within the accounting function. The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the control in the daily accounting and record keeping of the organization, including assisting in the month end close and other financial reporting processes. They must be driven to provide a high level of accuracy while meeting on-time delivery requirements and supporting a strong internal control environment.

Responsibilities/Duties

The Staff Accountant, on a day-to-day basis, will work independently and collaboratively with the Hatch Bank accounting team, operations team, and other organizational teams as needed. Routine job functions, responsibilities and special projects based on departmental priorities may consist of the following:

    Prepare daily reconciliations of cash general ledger and bank accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain reports on the bank's daily liquidity position.
  • Prepare month-end close and ad hoc journal entries.
  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of third-party data.
  • Compile financial and loan data to assist in preparing various reports for management or audit purposes.
  • Assist with internal audits, external audits, and annual regulatory examinations
  • Remain current with respect to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and any financial disclosure requirements
  • Support initiatives, add value, support the Bank's vision, core values, business principles, goals, and objectives
  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Functions

While performing the essential functions of this position, the incumbent is subject to sedentary work for extended periods of time. Some mobility in order to access files and attend meetings is necessary. The incumbent must be able to operate a computer terminal and office equipment and communicate and exchange information to internal and external customers.



Knowledge - Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of financial accounting experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and embrace frequent change
  • Passionate about using technology, data, and automation to solve unique and challenging operational problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop concise and effective communications for specific audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to support internal and external relationships
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, including ability to review and interpret data utilizing concepts and tools
  • Experience with posting journal entries to the general ledger
  • Intermediate Excel experience (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Pivot Tables, Etc.)
  • Experience working with a financial institution or a fintech company preferred

Pay Range: $75,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year. Pay range may vary based on skills, experience, and location
