HSE COORDINATOR

WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located in our Poplar Bluff, MO plant you will be an HSE Coordinator.

The HSE Coordinator is responsible for organizing, implementing, administering, and monitoring Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Maintain safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures that will ensure the facility is in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA and EPA standard as directed.
  • Maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems to assess and control Health, Safety and Environmental risks.
  • Participate in and/or lead internal audits and inspections and recommend solutions for corrective action.
  • Perform and revise HSE Risk Assessments in keeping with facility guidelines and internationally recognized standards such as ISO 14001, IOS 45001.
  • Recognize workplace safety and environmental hazards and risks associated with processes, services, and products.
  • Understand how the management of HSE risks affects overall HSE Management within the sphere of influence.
  • Support plant's management of environmental and OSHA regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements.
  • Maintain and improve regulatory programs.
  • Conduct site audits, evaluate plant's compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and identify areas of improvements.
  • Perform tasks that support the plant's environmental and OSHA regulatory reporting and record keeping requirements.
  • Submit payroll information bi-weekly to corporate for processing. Verify accuracy of timesheets in accordance with company policy.
  • Support and/or lead the facility safety team.

ABOUT YOU

  • 2-4 years of health, safety and environment experience required.
  • Relevant Certifications preferred (CSP, Internal Auditor, First aid/CPR).
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of safety codes, OSHA 1910, ISO 45001/14001 EPA regulations, and other regulatory agencies

    • Machinery and Machine Guarding
    • Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV)
    • Confined Space Entry

  • Working knowledge of environmental codes, EPA, and other regulatory agencies
    • Air Quality & Emissions
    • Energy Management
    • Solid & Hazardous Waste
    • Waste Water / Storm Water
    • Above- & Under-Ground Storage Tank Management
  • Experience with Lean Problem Solving (8D/A3 tools), Incident Investigation, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Leadership experience, developing and driving initiatives
  • Experience preparing and delivering HSE trainings
  • Experience preparing and delivering HSE training.
  • Background and proven experience in HSE recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance.
  • Experience required with incident Investigation, including Root Cause Analysis such as Five Why Analysis.
  • Training in Ergonomics, Machine Guarding and as a First Aid Responder.
  • Works well under pressure, effectively handles conflict and demonstrates flexibility in work style to accommodate changing priorities and fixed deadlines.
  • Takes responsibility for personal development.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communicator.
  • High Level interpersonal skills; must be able to influence and coach across multiple levels within the facility.
  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated business acumen.
  • Change management capability.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and may occasionally move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The environment in some areas will require safety PPE to include safety glasses and high visibility vests. This list of PPEs is not inclusive of all types of PPE that may be required. Additional PPE may be required dependent on the operation or situation.
