Overview

To support the mission of Helio Health, Inc., the Billing Specialist generates medical invoices, posts cash receipts, follows up on accounts receivable and any other duties as required to accomplish medical billing for Helio Health. The Billing Specialist will work Full-Time to support our Outpatient program.

In addition to Helio Health's comprehensive benefits package, Full-Time hires for this position are eligible for a Sign-On Incentive up to $1,500.00!

Pay: $21.88 - $25.75 per hour.



Responsibilities

    Possesses knowledge of the practice management system in relation to the job requirements and comprehends the function of the position of Billing Specialist. Recognizes errors and follows the appropriate steps to research and correct them.
  • Demonstrates an appropriate understanding of the practice management system and is able to perform various functions effectively and efficiently.
  • Demonstrates and understands the importance of maintaining accurate records for the integrity of the billing/reimbursement cycle.
  • Accurately posts insurance and patient activity in the practice management system using both auto-posting and manual posting. Understands that all functions need to be done accurately to maintain correct patient history.
  • Properly maintains all work files and organizes data in an efficient manner; understands and demonstrates appropriate documentation. Maintains accurate files necessary for research and documentation.
  • Researches open claims and processes appeals when necessary. Follows up on patient and insurance company issues in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform all tasks in an efficient, expeditious and accurate manner with minimal supervision; maintains a clear understanding of limitations and readily asks for assistance when necessary.
  • Demonstrates the ability to organize workload and set priorities. Demonstrates effective planning by completing work on time irrespective of heavy workloads.
  • Demonstrates initiative to contact all necessary insurance company representatives and/or staff when a question or concern arises.
  • Communicates insurance trends and unresolved appeals to the billing manager for further action.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and accept change in a positive manner.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on corporate communications such as email and internal network.
  • Present and ready for work in designated area at assigned time and dressed in appropriate work attire.
  • Readily assist other staff members upon completion of assigned duties.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports of Medicaid billing for the Director of Billing/Medical Records Operations.
  • Data entry into billing systems as needed
  • Perform other related activities as assigned by the Director of Billing/Medical Record Operations.
  • Attend training as required to keep abreast of Medicaid insurance/compliance changes and attend annual in-services (fire, safety).
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/equivalency required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of billing and/or medical records experience preferred.

Salary and hourly compensation offers are based on candidate's education level and experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager and program.
