Summary of Job Duties:Diesel Technology: Classes taught may include but are not limited to: Basic Diesel Technology Diagnostics, Diesel Fundamentals Theory, Power Trains, Air Conditioning Systems, Basic Servicing Tractors and Trailers, Advanced
Servicing Tractors and Trailers, Electrical Systems and Advanced Diesel Diagnostics, Hydraulics for Mobile Equipment, Diesel Fuel Injection Systems, Brake Systems, and Internships.

General Responsibilities:
Ensure program alignment with industry-recognized certifications and local industry needs

Understand and comply with UA-PTC policies and procedures

Teach courses in accordance with approved UA-PTC syllabi and academic standards

Serve on college committees and assist in hosting Fall and Spring advisory committee meetings with
industry partners

Serve as an academic advisor for students enrolled in the Diesel program

Assist with recruiting and retention initiatives

Participate in the assessment of student learning

Foster partnerships with industry to support program success

Identify equipment and supplies which support the curriculum

Ensure students adhere to safety and disciplinary regulations

Participate in commencement and support SkillsUSA activities/competitions for students

Provide technical instruction and demonstrations relevant to the actual real-world work environment

Develop and organize lesson plans, reference materials, syllabi, technology and other learning aids.

Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive and "real world" knowledge in the area of diesel technology.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to individuals and groups.
  • Able to provide topic related demonstrations for assigned students and explain processes and techniques in an easy to understand manner.
  • Proficient in the use of basic computer applications such as email and Microsoft Office.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and move freely about Diesel classroom, lab, and loading area.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of industry work experience
  • ASE Certifications
  • Possesses Class A CDL

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of industry work experience
  • ASE Certifications
  • Previous experience as an instructor and/or trainer in the field
  • Possesses Class A CDL
