JOB SUMMARY
Grows and expands the Early Phase Company's business development initiatives by developing and fostering relationships with key decision-makers at biotechnological and pharmaceutical companies within a defined geographic region. Engages C-level personnel to ensure the Company maintains complementary development pipelines with the potential to become long-term and meaningful relationships for the Company.
Job responsibilities
- Creates annual and long-term business plans for accounts within assigned region. Determines the strategy for further development of business opportunities and strategic alliances within region. Reviews plans on a quarterly basis to determine where adjustments may be required.
- Analyzes industry activity and develops an annual business plan for specific market segments and assigned accounts. Participates with management in the development and implementation of the sales plan which includes forecasting territory sales and activity objectives. Reviews annual business plan on a quarterly basis to determine where adjustments may be required.
- Plans, implements, and reviews monthly objectives of the sales action plan, including budgeting of time and resources, while motivating and communicating, with team about sales action goals and objectives.
- Develops account strategies for all appropriate clients. Anticipates and identifies client challenges, real and perceived, and partners with the appropriate operations team leader to provide solutions in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Ensures to maintain up-to-date and accurate records within the salesforce.com database for accounts (active and targeted) within region. This includes items such as account profiles, individual contact details, opportunities, and communications.
- Maintains professional and up-to-date knowledge in Company designated targeted therapeutic areas and the Company's services capabilities (clinical, data management, statistics, medical writing, functional services, etc.) to serve as a basis for providing "value added" expanded services to all appropriate clients.
- Facilitates updates with the business development team, covering new activities in their region and clinical research industry, with urgent and important issues being shared with management as they arise.
- Participates in weekly updates to management and the Business Development team of new activities in the assigned territory, with urgent and important issues being shared with management as they arise.
- Actively participates at professional meetings and conventions, as appropriate.
Qualifications
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree required; Graduate degree preferred.
- Early Phase Clinical Research Business Development Experience is preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the healthcare industry in a sales, commercial operations and/or BD capacity. Experience in a selling capacity to pharmaceutical industry sales/marketing or operations decision markers, preferred.
- Proven track record to manage multiple selling strategies and approaches to market.
- Action oriented and results driven - moves quickly and with purpose and has relevant experience in a B2B, consultative sales environment.
- Ability to work independently to achieve timelines specific RFPs, customer presentations, and client deliverables however willing to work collaboratively in a team environment in the best interest of the customer.
- High level of honesty and integrity with a strong work ethic and proactive thought leadership.
- Ability to maintain energy and entrepreneurial approach/thinking.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, agile environment.

- Extensive travel may be required (greater than 50%).
