ABOUT THE POSITION

This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with broad variety of clients across multiple market sectors including municipal, state, real estate, energy, and institutions, providing a comprehensive range of water resource services, including:

    Watershed and Water Quality Management
  • Stormwater Management Solutions
  • Floodplain Management and Resilience

We're seeking a passionate and knowledgeable professional with expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design. In this role, you'll develop innovative water resource designs, craft precise specifications, and create detailed technical reports. Your ability to transform design intent into accurate engineering drawings and specifications, coupled with your deep understanding of construction methods, will help bring these projects to life and ensure their success.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the application of newest technologies (AI, GIS-based Automation etc.) to bring efficiency and clarity to our water resources assignments.
  • Prepare engineering plans and specifications for approval by municipalities and regulatory agencies, consistent with FDOT standards.
  • Perform engineering computations related to hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality including conveyance systems, cross drains, storm water management facilities, Green Stormwater BMPs, floodplain management), bridge hydraulics and scour, and natural channel design.
  • Analyze technical problems, assess the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devise new approaches and alternative solutions.
  • Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools for a variety of project types including transportation, land development, energy infrastructure, and resource protection restoration.
  • Prepare technical documents including watershed studies, drainage reports, pond siting reports, bridge hydraulics reports and permitting documents with minimal oversight.
  • Assist with QC of construction plans and design documents generated by other team members.
  • Prepares cost and labor estimates, job budgets and schedules.
  • Assist with project pursuits (LOI, ELOI, Technical Proposals, Presentations, Manhours, etc.).
  • Conducts or oversees personnel involved in engineering investigations and planning work.

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong technical background in hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Experience and familiarity with hydrologic, hydraulic, water quality and hydrodynamic models systems, such as: ICPR, SWMM, ASAD, GEOPAK Drainage, HY-8, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS.
  • Knowledge with preparation and review of Engineering Plans and Specifications to ensure that all aspects of project implementation are clearly conveyed.
  • Team oriented with strong capability to work independently.
  • Highly organized.
  • Capable of coordinating and performing multiple tasks.
  • Well versed in Florida stormwater and drainage regulatory and design standards including, Central Florida cities and counties, DEP, SJRWMD, SWFWFD, SFWMD, SRWMD, and FDOT; able to interpret and apply technical information contained in procedures and manuals to accomplish the design process for assigned projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or related field of study.
  • 8 - 11 years post graduate experience.
  • Registered Florida PE.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory processes in Florida.
  • GIS and CAD application experience are desired.
