Surface Chemistry Intern - Summer 2025

The Role:
Our site in Billerica, MA is seeking a/an Surface Chemistry Intern to join our team for the Summer 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 12-14 weeks in duration.
We are looking for an Engineer/Chemist intern to be part of the surface modification team. Primarily they would synthesize ligand monomers and resins, characterize membranes using analytical techniques and develop methods for surface modification.

What You'll Do:

* Synthesize resins or polymerizable ligands.
* Screen membrane functionalization technologies.
* Collaborate with scientist to manufacture membranes.
* Characterize membrane performance.
* Keep appropriate experimental records in a laboratory notebook.
* Communicate technical results to the research group.

What We Seek:

* Creativity/ingenuity to overcome technical challenges.
* Interest in learning additives/particle synthesis. Basic organic chemistry knowledge needed (chemist or chemical engineer. Senior students preferred).
* Aptitude to perform systematic analysis of laboratory results.
* Ability to design and follow standard operation procedures (SOPs). (Attention to good safety practices).
* Good team attitude to collaborate with scientists to manufacture membranes. Communication skills for teamwork.
