What You'll Do

  • Provide technical mentorship and oversight for operational teams, ensuring excellence in project delivery, safety practices, and risk management.
  • Serve as a Principal Engineer on complex projects, offering peer reviews and ensuring the accuracy and technical soundness of all deliverables.
  • Evaluate and enhance the technical skills of geotechnical engineering teams through training programs and professional development initiatives.
  • Actively seek out new business opportunities, fostering relationships with past and potential clients.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for high-level engagements, ensuring satisfaction and alignment with client goals.
  • Collaborate on proposal development and identify strategic growth opportunities across markets.
  • Work closely with talent acquisition and operations management to identify hiring needs and recruit top-tier engineering talent.
  • Work closely with the university talent team on recruiting efforts, developing relationships with key institutions and participating in career fairs.
  • Mentor engineers and create structured short- and long-term career goals, reviewing progress semiannually.
  • Identify opportunities to establish new service lines, including geophysical, geo-structural, pavement design, coastal engineering, and other specialized areas.
  • Define personnel, equipment, and training needs for successful implementation of new services across subsidiary offices.
  • Act as a public relations ambassador, representing the company's capabilities and expertise to external stakeholders.
  • Participate in or lead the Principal Engineer review committee, evaluating and approving candidates for this role.
  • Provide strategic support for acquisitions and other initiatives directed by the subsidiary and corporate leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state(s) you work.
  • Minimum of 20 years in civil and geotechnical engineering, including senior leadership roles with extensive experience in strategic leadership and team development.
  • Demonstrate technical excellence, leadership, safety, and professionalism.
  • Excellent performance history in project management, communication, risk management, and technical knowledge
  • Communicate proficiently, employing strong interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and convey complex data in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Extensive experience in various aspects of driving strategic initiatives across organizations. Ability to enact change quickly and to influence key stakeholders and operational owners through well-articulated strategies backed up with metric driven value statements.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and to assume higher-level leadership responsibilities in critical situations.
  • Ability to promote innovative ideas and accept the risks that are required to lead change.
  • Display an effective consultative and influencing approach.
  • Display maturity, flexibility, comfort with ambiguity and a sense of optimism/can-do attitude.
  • Proven ability to build and lead and interact with diverse and distributed teams from various internal andexternal organizations across multiple locations
  • Strong and creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and strategic planning skills, including the ability to disaggregate problems and structure complex issues.
  • Strong presentation skills including the development of PowerPoint presentations.
  • Strong collaboration and influence skills, demonstrating an ability to navigate organizational relationships, incorporate differing perspectives, develop recommendations, and generate consensus with partners across teams.
  • Extensive experience with client relationship management, contract negotiation, and financial oversight across multiple regions.
  • Proven track record in mentoring and training engineering professionals, including Principal Engineers.
  • Deep knowledge of specialized service lines and emerging technologies in the industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse sectors, including private, public, and federal clients.
