Primary Description of Work |
The primary purpose of UNCSA's Office of Student Financial Aid is to support the enrollment of prospective and current students through a full range of financial aid programs and services. Recognizing that not all students have the financial resources to meet their educational costs, the financial aid program exists so that students who qualify for admission are given a financial opportunity to attend the School. The functions of the Office of Student Financial Aid are accomplished through counseling individual students and families on all aspects of financial aid, and completing all processes necessary to deliver federal, state, institutional and private aid, from application through disbursement and reporting, in compliance with Federal and State regulations and Institutional policies. |

Description of Responsibilities and Duties |
Communications and Student Service: Use extensive knowledge of complex financial aid programs, policies, processes, procedures, and Federal and State regulations to provide prompt, courteous service and accurate information regarding various steps and phases of the Financial Aid process, to students, parents and
UNCSA staff.
Federal Work Study Management: Coordinate an intricate array of processes, forms and communications between Federal Work Study students, Federal Work Study supervisors, Human Resources, Payroll, and Information Technology, to manage the Federal Work Study Program.
Institutional Scholarship Coordination: Coordinate multiple processes and communications between the art schools, Student Accounts, and the Office of Student Financial Aid, for the oversight and integrity of institutional merit scholarships. Manage special scholarship projects.
Financial Aid Requirements Control: Facilitate completion of specific financial aid documents and requirements including federal verification, entrance and exit loan counseling, and appeals, through tracking and communication.
Pre-claims and Default Management: Communicate with former students in delinquent status on their student loans to remind them of their loan repayment responsibilities and inform them about various tools and options to help them guard against defaulting on their student loans. Maintain well-defined system of tracking delinquent students and "pre-claims" correspondence, as well as a written default management plan. |
Minimum Qualifications |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Bachelor's degree OR equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities obtained through training and experience.
One to five years of work experience in a college or university Financial Aid Office. |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and function in a team environment. The ability to identify and understand student needs and communicate complex financial aid issues is crucial.
The skill to compile and analyze complex data and have an aptitude for working with numbers and calculations is critical.
The capacity to analyze and synthesize a multitude of federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies and apply them across multiple work responsibilities is required. In support of student enrollment and retention, the ability to coordinate and manage a broad scope of financial aid responsibilities and prioritize workload is essential.
Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Publisher) and web-based applications is necessary. Working knowledge of Ellucian Banner
ERP System (Financial Aid, Student and/or Finance modules) is highly valuable. Financial Aid work experience is strongly preferred. |
