University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory Department of Dance Job Description
Responsibilities: * Teach ballet technique, dance history, and ballet pedagogy; * Teach coursework in areas of interest and specialty as needed; * Create original choreography for students and direct one Conservatory dance concert annually; Maintain a professional profile that reflects the career of a distinguished teacher/performer/artist; Contribute to the creative/scholarly, academic and service environments characteristic of a Conservatory within a university; * Enrich the cultural environment of the Kansas City metropolitan community; * Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; participate actively in the intellectual life of the Conservatory and university by serving on committees and engaging in other Conservatory activities; * Contribute to curriculum development, faculty governance, and administrative activity of the Dance Division. Full-Time, 9 month, benefit eligible, unranked academic position. Qualifications
* Terminal degree in dance or equivalent professional experience * Demonstrated successful and innovative experience teaching ballet from a technical and/or theoretical perspective to a diverse student body; * Demonstrated potential or ability to teach all levels of technique; * Expertise in at least one of the following areas: dance criticism/aesthetics, composition, pas de deux, contemporary partnering, kinesiology, or world dance forms; * Evidence of a commitment to the field of ballet as a site of creative and/or scholarly inquiry. Additionally, candidates should have professional experience at the national and/or international level as a performer/scholar. Anticipated Hiring Range
