Position Summary

Assist the Sustainability Program Specialist in the completion of the community and organizational greenhouse gas inventories. Responsibilities include project research, data compilation, documentation, reporting and evaluation. These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties.

Non-represented, casual position
Part-time, approx. 10-20 hours per week
Flexible schedule during regular business hours

The City Manager's Office (CMO) ensures the City runs effectively and efficiently to achieve what Corvallis community members, through the City Council, want to accomplish with the resources available. CMO provides leadership, coordination and management for the City organization and support for the City Council. CMO also works to provide timely information to our community and encourage connection between community members and the City organization.


Essential Functions

Solicits and compiles data from a variety of sources, researches inventory methods and sustainability practices, and documents results. Organizes and analyzes information, prepares and presents draft reports for review.

Assists in developing and documenting practices and tools for collecting data and reporting methods.

Collaborates with work group staff to perform other tasks as assigned. Performs as a member of a team, contributing to the achievement of work group goals and objectives.

Complies with all safety rules and performs work in a safe manner.

Delivers excellent customer service to diverse audiences. Responds to customer service requests, questions and complaints. Maintains a positive customer service demeanor and delivers service in a respectful and patient manner.

Maintains effective work relationships.

Arrives to work, meetings, and other work-related functions on time and maintains regular job attendance.

Acts ethically and honestly; applies ethical standards of behavior to daily work activities and interactions. Builds confidence in the City through own actions.

Complies with all Administrative Policies. Performs work in accordance with Council Policies and Municipal Code sections applicable to position.


Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and current enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary degree in a field related to the assigned work group.

Experience in conducting research, writing reports, and analyzing and organizing information.

Experience conducting greenhouse gas inventories or other sustainability or environmental impact research preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read, understand and follow standard procedures, prepare written reports and communications. Ability to draft report analysis and narrative for review.

Ability to research, compile, analyze, summarize and present data and information.

Proficient skill in using Microsoft Excel 365.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with community partners and organizations to request and gather information.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous projects for multiple customers.

Ability to work in a team environment and/or work independently while performing duties thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with Department policy. Ability to get along well with co-workers and maintain working relationships.

May be required to use a computer for extended periods of time to perform essential functions of the position.
