ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Supervises day shift AR/Hi-Vision employees and production within the AR Department placing an emphasis on productivity, quality.
  • Monitor, schedule, and maintain production activities by coordinating employees, equipment, and customer demand.
  • Plans and delegates daily assignment to night shift AR employees to ensure on-time product delivery but also consistency of process application across both night shift teams.
  • Works closely with employees to ensure proper training and cross-training is provided to night shift AR employees on all processes and equipment, and ensure standard operating procedures are followed and enforce compliance as needed.
  • Ensures procedures that are in place are being followed for production efficiency, safety, and compliance with company and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Monitors production and quality goals and takes action when improvement is needed. Counsel with AR Manager for direction and input.
  • Collaborates with AR Manager in the evaluation of workflow processes, makes recommendations and I several responsible for implementation of procedural and system changes on night shifts in order to deliver a high-quality product.
  • Monitors performance of direct reports and provides prompt and objective coaching in accomplishing goals and in job performance. Writes and conducts performance reviews, reward, and discipline employees.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring process for open positions within the department to ensure the most qualified candidates are selected; training once hired.
  • Monitors attendance, vacation, and hours worked of night shift employees.
  • Coordinates manpower requirements and approves overtime for night shift employees to meet changing conditions.
  • Troubleshoots breakage to determine the root cause and put measures in place in an effort to eliminate repeat inefficiency.
  • Operate vacuum coating equipment as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability



  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing with a variety of people. Bilingual (Spanish) desirable.
  • Knowledge of vacuum coating equipment including their design, repair, and maintenance.
  • Must be able to read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records/reports to determine production requirements and current estimates and outputs.
  • Must be able to plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Must be familiar with safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Must be able to direct, coordinate, evaluate the activities of employees.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths/weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems in order to choose the most appropriate one.



Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, and hear for at least 5 to 8 hours. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The laboratory environment is clean, quiet, and cold. The employee will be exposed to caustic chemicals and electricity. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
