Job Responsibilities
- Floats to other areas to maintain productivity and proficiency.
- Follows site specific standard operating procedures, manuals and instructions; Adheres to laboratory safety procedures and processes at all times.
- Participates in constructive feedback and gives positive reinforcement to coworkers.
- Reports clinical data accurately and efficiently so that care givers receive timely patient information.
- Notifies appropriate individual(s), including technical support, of problems or discrepancies according to established procedures.
- Minimizes department expenses by using resources efficiently while avoiding urgent supply requests and inventory loss due to expiration.
- Independently perform laboratory tests in accordance with applicable professional standards, laws, and regulations.
- Perform screening procedures, including vision testing, pulmonary function testing, and audiometric testing when requested for use in job-related medical examinations and preventive health programs.
- Effectively use and test various medical screening devices, including but not limited to hematology analyzer, blood chemistry analyzer, HIV analyzer, urine analyzer, audiometer, pulmonary function equipment, and vision screening equipment
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
- Work Schedule: Full Time Day Shift: Monday-Friday 7am-4pm
- Minimum Education:
- Associate's degree or 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university with 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) in chemistry and 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) in biology with the ELIGIBILITY for ASCP Board certification And one of the following:*
- Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science or Accredited Bureau of Health Education Schools accredited Medical Lab Technician program. Successful completion of a 50 week U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the last ten years.*or three years of full time acceptable clinical experience for eligibility for Medical Lab Technician. Other acceptable forms of education/experience will follow the guidelines of ASCP/AMT Board certification.
- Years of Experience:
- 1 year of experience or Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited MLS program, NAACLS or ABHES accredited MLT program, or a foreign medical laboratory science clinical training program within the 12 months required.
- 6 plus years of experience preferred
- Phlebotomy experience preferred
- Certification:
- MLT(ASCP) or MLT (AMT) Required
- Top-Secret Security Clearance (ISSA/TS/SCI) required. If Team Member does not hold Top Secret Security Clearance (ISSA/TS/SCI) at the time of hire, the Team Member must obtain it within one year of the hire date. Required
- Active certification in spirometry-Preferred
- Active certification in audiometry-Preferred
- Certified Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)-Preferred
