Senior Engineering Manager for the Airborne Composites and Structures (ACS) Business Area

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated leadership; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of demonstrated leadership.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is highly desirable at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Engineering Manager for the Airborne Composites and Structures (ACS) Business Area of the Maritime and Strategic Systems (M&SS) Line of Business (LoB). The ACS business area is a trusted provider of defense military and commercial radomes, aircraft structures and is a fabricator of beryllium structures and optics. Our products are found in military aircraft, commercial aircraft, missile defense, space and research applications, military ground vehicles and defense logistics support. Primary locations are Marion, VA and Cullman, AL.

The successful candidate will report directly to the M&SS Engineering Vice President. You will have responsibility for the 40 employee engineering team and will be fully accountable for engineering execution within the Business Area.

You will be responsible for enhancing the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

Job Responsibilities:

Below are key responsibilities of the ACS Senior Engineering Manager

• Manages, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering efforts within Business Area
• People activities such as performance management, hiring, headcount management and forecasting, close collaboration with our Learning and Organizational Development team on training and development, and employee recognition
• Support key technical initiatives and/or problem resolution
• Collaborate across LoB and share resources where necessary, proactively anticipating needs
• Accountable for effective implementation of business-driven IR&D
• Provides leadership and technical/managerial content for proposals with identification of cross business unit strengths and technical shortcomings
• Leads improvements in engineering through process change and implementation of new methods/tools and application of appropriate resources
• Support the implementation of technology into the LoB, including AI
• Financial activities such as Engineering budgets/forecasts, capital/expense management, and financial analysis (direct/indirect labor usage)

The successful candidate will have direct experience in leading and growing teams who execute technologically complex programs in a changing environment.

Preferred candidate must have a clearly demonstrated background building enduring customer relationships, and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization.

Target salary range: USD $184,888.40/Yr. - USD $205,110.60/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
