POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Distribution Center Manager will be accountable for driving the development and deployment of a regional distribution center (RDC) with responsibility to plan, direct, organize, and control warehousing, distribution, and transportation activities. This position will be responsible for ensuring important and impactful improvements in materials flow, inventory management, and logistics planning.

CORE FUNCTIONS



  • Plan, direct, organize and control warehousing, distribution, and transportation activities for the RDC.
  • Direct operations leadership team to coordinate, motivate, and direct all staff within the operation. This includes regular staff meetings to ensure daily objectives are clear and on target.
  • Implement best practices for inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping/receiving, and returns management. Promote a culture of process improvement and high performance.
  • Create department goals, manage the performance and development of the team, and drive accountability around goal completion.
  • Optimize labor utilization to ensure UPMH is productive and cost effective.
  • Evaluate, design, and deploy material delivery systems that specify and deliver replenishment volumes on efficient intervals.
  • Develop talent and capability among supply chain teams to meet operational challenges and drive improvements.
  • Provide oversight of all activities relating to the local RDC budget, headcount plan, and equipment requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the company's customer fulfillment team to ensure customer orders are processed according to business standards.
  • Develop and deploy DC operating standards and ensure they are understood and maintained.
  • Communicate and drive detailed strategy to achieve lean principles and inventory reduction.
  • Carefully track and monitor on-time delivery performance, working closely with purchasing leaders and manufacturing sites to drive improvements.
  • Work closely with the company's safety team to promote a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to OSHA standards and other relevant regulations.
  • Oversee regular safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations to minimize workplace hazards.
  • Identify root causes of operational gaps by analyzing historical and current data, as well as RDC, company, and industry trends. Guide local leadership team in development of action plans to mitigate operational gaps.


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in logistics, business, or related field required.
  • 9+ years' relevant experience (large box distribution and fulfillment in both B2B and B2C preferred) including 5+ years of experience at a manager level or above in a distribution operation.


Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge



  • Strong leadership abilities to motivate, focus and foster a team-oriented approach with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, decision making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and web-based OMS/ERP/WMS software. Working knowledge of Manhattan management system preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to network professionally.
  • Ability to adapt to changes while maintaining productivity measures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including problem definition, data collection and decision-making.


Travel



  • Minimal travel may be required.
