Job Description
The Field Application Engineer will directly report to the Business Development Senior Specialist for DoD and will be matrixed for direct support to the Vice President of Global Sales. The FAE will serve as the conduit between the US and international BD teams and the Montreal-based Engineering Team in a highly collaborative environment. This role serves as a technical voice of the customer to the BD/Sales team and to engineering, product line management and program management.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support of Ultra Communications LOS and BLOS tactical radio equipment
  • Provides pre-sales or post-sale technical support of company products and systems.
  • Provide, present and interpret design, application and service information to BD staff and customers.
  • Assess and analyzes technical application of Ultra's products and competing equipment to meet customer needs.
  • Analyze and troubleshoots equipment failures to determine cause and recommends and/or performs corrective action during customer test events and demos
  • Plan and coordinate support of field trials, exercises, demos, and customer engagements
  • Support the development of customer briefing materials, CONOPS, OV-1's, and competitive analysis
  • Participate in Technical exchanges with government labs, Program Management Offices, operational forces and industry partners
  • Support the planning and execution of Trade Shows, Conferences and other industry events
  • Ability to articulate unique customer requirements, and identify/develop highly differentiated solutions to overcome complex communication challenges
  • Act as a formal mentor to other field service representatives or field application engineers in the team

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's in Engineering preferably in electrical electronics engineering or computer engineering, or relevant experience.

  • Previous technical experience with line-of-sight and beyond line-of-sight communications technologies
  • 5-10 years of supporting technical sales in defense industry
  • 5-10 years of experience working with US government procurement and regulationssuch as contracting, acquisition processes, and DOD budgets Can obtain a US Secret or NATO Secret security clearance.. US Citizenship required for US Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel 40% with monthly travel to US and Canadian locations

Desired Skills:

  • Able to work effectively with geographically and time-separated team members.
  • Strong Radio Frequency background with in-depth understanding of Tactical LOS/BLOS Transport Networks and Software Defined Radios
  • Strong IP Networking Skills
  • Knowledge of US Army Air Defense platforms, architectures, and CONOPS
  • Tactical communications experience is preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience briefing senior military leaders and managing relationships
  • Previous experience supporting international technical demonstrations and customer events
