Director of Sales

As the Director of Sales on our team, you will complete a variety of tasks which will include:
- Works closely with the General Manager to maximize revenue and total occupancy.
- Responsible for total room, conference and room rental revenue and accountable to a market performance and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies to include market mix, pricing, status, and direct sales. The development and solicitation of business from all markets to ensure the necessary advance bookings needed for a successful and profitable operation for the hotel.
- Actively participates in Meetings with corporate and leisure clients, provides site tours and builds rapport.
- Negotiates corporate discounted rates based on volume, availability and other pre-determined factors.
- Initiates solicitation efforts of the sales function through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the hotel.
- Quotes group rates, prepares group contracts and delegates front desk staff to enter block into Cloudbeds.
- Quotes extended stay reservations and communicates reservation details to front desk and management team.
- Compile and/or direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales function to include, but not limited to the annual and monthly forecast, lead and productivity, function calendars, group booking pace report, STAR reports and sales meeting minutes when applicable.
- Follows-up with appropriate staff to ensure meetings and events go as planned.
- Ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets.
- Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
- Adhere to computerized annual business plan and execute plans as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary by current market conditions.
- Assist in updating website, purchase, distribute and monitor promotional materials and other sales collateral.
- Organize and/or attend scheduled department head, sales, event and/or all staff and related meetings.
- Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.
- Direct and manage all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.
- Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly reports, annual goals, sales budget, forecasts and other reports as directed/required.
- Develop rates, group sales and catering deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management.
- Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.
This position is ideal for someone with the following experience and qualities:
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent education and experience, required.
- Sales experience in a hotel of similar level preferred.
- May work weekends, some nights and holidays.
- Positive, team focused, guest service centered leadership attitude.
