Current Expected Credit Losses Analyst

What you'll do:

Western Alliance Bank's Current Expected Credit Loss ("CECL") Team oversees the Bank's CECL Framework and executes the quarterly process for calculating the Bank's allowance for credit losses ("ACL") including running credit models, performing analytics, assessing the credit profile of the Bank's loan portfolio, and making recommendations to Senior Management. The CECL Team also serves as a support function to various organizations within the Bank such as Accounting, Credit, the Enterprise Modeling Team, and the Capital Stress Testing Team. The CECL Analyst will be responsible for preparing data, running credit models, performing analytics, and developing reporting.
  • Collecting, preparing, and cleaning data for credit model execution

  • Running CECL credit models and reviewing results for appropriateness

  • Performing analytics to assess the credit environment, the credit quality of the Bank's loan portfolio, and the Bank's reserve levels

  • Developing and updating management reporting and regulatory reporting

  • Drafting procedures and documentation

What you'll need:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting; Business Management; Economics; Finance; Statistics

  • Experience within credit risk, stress testing, Current Expected Credit Loss ("CECL") Methodology and/or expected credit loss modeling

  • Knowledge of key credit and financial risk and performance indicators

  • Ability to write with proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling, and to clearly express ideas

  • Basic knowledge of credit underwriting and policy

  • 5-7 years experience in banking, credit analytics, or risk management

  • CFA, CPA, CAIA, CRM or other related designation preferred

  • Advanced level skills with Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate to advanced Microsoft SQL skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office VBA, SAS, SNL, Tableau, Power BI
