Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as anAssociate Claims Examiner!

About the role

As an Associate Claims Examiner, you will provide claims assistance to our customers. You will be responsible for researching, recording, and reporting findings from death master file (DMF) monthly runs across both life and retirement divisions. You will maintain individual life waiver of premiums, individual disability income, and various accelerated benefit reports and databases.

As an Associate Claims Examiner, you will also prepare verbal and written communication for initial death claims and follow-up claim communications for our customers. You will act as an accuracy check for keying of ACH payments to customers and maintain both ingoing and outgoing communication coordination.

What you will do



  • Prepare written communication for death claim notifications in two or more divisions
  • Aid with written and verbal communication with our customers
  • Serve as backup to claims examiners on telephones
  • Maintain individual life waiver of premium, individual disability income and various accelerated benefit reports and databases including monthly reviews and administration
  • Perform peer reviews for staff
  • Support Retain Asset Program and service as primary EFT Table N Entry coordinator
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and maintain accurate and timely records
  • Assist with or serve as back-up for monthly death master file review for IA, Deferred and Life products. Review will include researching and confirming deaths and instituting set up process


Compensation

Hourly Range: $20.00-27.64 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Your experience and skills



  • High School Diploma required; College degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • 1-year of customer service experience
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable adapting to changes in priorities and work volumes
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation
  • Strong attention to detail, quality, and accuracy
  • Basic understanding of computer applications and data entry
  • Self-starter
  • Good organizational skills
