POSITION SUMMARY:

The Retail Sales Analytics Lead will play a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making within our boutique retail operations. As a key leader, you will be responsible for developing and executing advanced analytics strategies to maximize sales performance, elevate customer experience, and optimize operational efficiency.

In this role, you will act as an individual contributor and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders. Leveraging your expertise in Excel, SQL, and Python, you will extract valuable insights from complex datasets to inform strategic actions. Your contributions will be instrumental in shaping our company's data strategy and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization. This is a hybrid work arrangement, with 1-3 days working on-site at our Manhattan NY headquarters and the remaining days working remotely.

RESPONSIBILITES:

Retail Analysis, Insights & Recommendations

  • Access and extract relevant data from key data streams (SAP HANA (Webi), SnowFlake, Esri, Proprietary Platforms, Oracle, Shopper Trak, Third Party platforms) to extract relevant data to drive actionable insights using Excel, SQL / Python.
  • Provide ad hoc insights to support short-term and long-term business objectives (e.g. promo analysis, sell thru analysis, portfolio analysis, etc...)
  • Identify and communicate trends that present opportunities or threats to the business, enabling proactive decision-making
  • Collaborate with Data Science counterparts to align insights and performance reporting, ensuring consistency and accuracy in interpretation of data-driven recommendations

Retail Forecasting & Planning

  • Analyze statistical trends and develop detailed, data-driven forecasts to contribute to the MBP Cycle (monthly business planning) and Annual OP (operational plan), acting as a strategic co-pilot with business owners
  • Operate as the first point of contact with business owners and cross functional partners on sales performance related questions across our network of stores
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to align strategic objectives with measurable goal setting and performance tracking, ensuring a cohesive approach to retail forecasting and planning

Retail Operational Analytics & Forecasting, Insights & Recommendations

  • Work closely with the B2C F&C (Finance co-pilot) to establish short- to long-term ambitions for the channel, leveraging advanced analytics and forecasting techniques
  • Analyze sales incentive (SSIP) impact on performance and recommends plan adjustments, while managing goal setting and monthly and quarterly metrics submission for the employee incentive plan
  • Partner with retail development manager to develop revenue generation model needed to support HQ financial payback period targets

Report & Dashboard Creation

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand business needs & develop relevant KPIs to monitor
  • Partner with Data Science & Data Capabilities to develop needed data models / data streams to support actionable reporting that provides transparency and reduced complexity
  • Develop & maintain reports and dashboards on sales performance, pricing, and competitive activity
  • Implement strategies to democratize and socialize broader understanding and access to data and key KPIs for business stakeholders (e.g. hosting trainings, developing instructional guides/videos)
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to automate, simplify, centralize/consolidate, and integrate visuals into dashboards & reports where relevant

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree , with preferred focus in Business, Statistics, Finance, Math or Computer Science or other quantitative disciplines (desired)
  • Master's Degree, a plus!
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in Data analytics / Business analytics / CRM / Reporting
  • 5+ years using Excel for analytics
  • 1+ year using SQL for analytics, strongly preferred
  • 1+ year using Python / R (or similar coding language) for analytics, strongly preferred
  • Experienced with BI and data visualization tools (Power BI a plus)
  • CPG experience, strongly preferred

SKILLS:

  • Inquisitive nature; eager to look root causes and details
  • Strong ability to translate data into insights to management with accuracy, reliability
  • Strong analytical skills, ideally developed in a commercial role preferably within an Internet or retail/consumer products business and/or management consulting
  • Ability to change directions quickly to respond to new information and changing circumstances with pragmatism
  • Excellent communicator with presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to prioritize and manage several projects at the same time
  • Ability to drive discussions with senior management on business performance and strategic topics

The approximate pay range for this position is $135,000- $150,000 base. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.
