Role/Purpose:

The role of an Applications Specialist is to design and develop complex vision inspection solutions within budgeted time and material costs, on schedule and to the required customer specification/VI safety and quality standards. Working closely with Sales, R&D, Product Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production and Service we will form an operational team that will communicate constantly to ensure the smooth running of VI's business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define vision solution packages consisting of scope, effort and hardware that will be used by Engineering to design a vision solution that will meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Determine and verify camera, lighting and software configuration to meet our customers inspection criteria
  • Validate Sales Orders prior to Order Processing
  • Ability to review and articulate technical documents (e.g. User Requirement Specification (URS), Request for Test (RFT), etc....)
  • Recognize and solve potential problems and evaluate project/program effectiveness
  • Clarify technical scopes to Sales and Customers
  • Conduct Vision product tests, e-Demos, host Customer Visits, conduct FATs for customers in an effective, detailed and timely manner
  • Support Trade Shows for equipment setups
  • Train Sales Team and Production employees in Vision Systems.
  • Record test data in a detailed format along with test methodology, application criteria and system requirements. Keep Regional Sales Manager, Sales Engineer and Sales Rep informed of concerns.
  • Manage product test inventory and storage. (Ability to lift 25 to 50lbs for extended periods of time and wire voltages to systems).
  • Ensure lab metrics are kept up-to-date in the Application Center Database
  • Ensure Application Center meets 5S initiatives.
  • Keep work area clean and organized, ensuring we make a positive impression on our customers.

  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.

  • AutoCAD proficient
  • Electrical and Mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Minimum Education / Experience Required:
  • Associates or equivalent technical experience
  • Automated machinery design experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Vision inspection experience is a plus
