Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Console Leader with experience in supervising pipeline operation in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!

Role Summary:

The Console Leader role is responsible for supporting system specific Control Center operations, assist with training, procedure development and adherence to ensure Operational Excellence and Regulatory Compliance. The role also includes supervising a shift of Pipeline System Controllers and leading all personnel responsible for the operation of Buckeye's pipeline systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:



  • Supervision of specific pipeline systems and Controller personnel.
  • Monitor and assist controllers during daily operations, including intervention if there is a perceived need.
  • Support project integration efforts assuring information is provided, assimilated and applied accurately and timely.
  • Support the integration of system upgrades and improvements for the Control Center. Includes providing support, interfacing with Engineering, Field Operations, IT and SCADA groups, etc.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, growth opportunities and assign discipline for direct reports
  • Review and make recommendations on Buckeye system operations and procedure manuals against regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Review and address troublesome alarms, Control Center related ticketing issues and Abnormal Operating Events affecting area of oversight.
  • Participate in/Conduct Quarterly Operational Excellence meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures. Provide reports for management at various levels.
  • Support incident investigations and work to resolve technical issues related to operations, as required.
  • Participate in Region functions/meetings to maintain a close relationship and foster open lines of communication between CC and Field Operations
  • Work with the Relief II's to help identify and address Operational and human performance issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Position Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years experience in supervising pipeline operations required.
  • Familiarity in the duties of the Pipeline System Controller, including working knowledge of supporting systems required.
  • Working knowledge of petroleum product specifications (quality implications), pipeline scheduling (time, power and customer service concerns), pipeline hydraulics (flow rates, pressures, pump configurations and leak detection) and field operations (practices and terminology) required.

Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:



  • Incumbents must possess excellent communication skills in order to be successful in this position. The person should have the ability to manage multiple tasks and personnel at once and be flexible and adaptable to changes in priority.
  • Quantitative and analytical skills are desired qualities for this position.
  • 5% to 10% travel to other Control Centers and field locations may be required.
  • Position supervises 24 hour, 365-day operation. The person should be flexible and adaptable to changing work schedules-as required.

  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.



Physical & Safety Requirements:



  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • This role continuously operates a computer and other office productivity equipment (i.e. a calculator, copy machine and computer printer).
