Description

The College of Business at Stony Brook University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer of Management (to join the Organizational Behavior, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship group). We are seeking a practitioner-someone with significant industry experience and expertise that they can bring to the classroom to teach courses in Organizational Behavior (and related topics, such as leadership and business ethics). Candidates should be available to teach in-person courses on the Stony Brook University campus.

Responsibilities:



  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses (four courses per semester) in management. Currently, the primary teaching need is in organizational behavior. The successful candidate may also be asked to teach other management-related courses (e.g., leadership, business ethics, business strategy, and entrepreneurship).
  • Develop course content and materials in accordance with college and area guidelines.
  • Engage in ongoing professional activities in the area of industry expertise (organizational behavior, strategic management, and/or entrepreneurship/innovation). Such activities include consulting, active participation on boards of directors, significant participation in business professional associations and societies, and documented and sustained professional certifications.
  • Establish industry connections and create experiential learning opportunities for students and faculty.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • Participate in administrative and committee assignments (e.g., assurance of learning and AACSB accreditation, organizing research seminars) and contribute to the SBU community.
  • Advance the College of Business' commitment to principles of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, including mentoring and supporting its diverse student body.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in a field related to Management or Organizational Behavior. At least 5 years of industry work experience (as an executive, manager, or consultant in business or government) in a role related to management or organizational behavior, broadly defined. Prior experience or demonstrated ability to effectively teach in an educational institution or corporate/executive setting (e.g., training, mentoring). Engaged in ongoing professional activities in the field of management. Such activities include consulting activities, active participation on boards of directors, significant participation in business professional associations and societies, and documented and sustained professional certifications. Demonstrated potential to teach courses in Organizational Behavior at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience or demonstrated ability to teach university courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs, particularly within a business school. Demonstrated excellent teaching of undergraduate or graduate university courses covering topics related to management (e.g., organizational behavior, leadership, business ethics, strategic management, entrepreneurship). Demonstrated potential to teach courses in more than one of the following areas: organizational behavior, strategic management, and entrepreneurship. At least 5 years in leadership or managerial positions. DBA (Doctorate in Business Administration) or Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Management, Organizational Behavior, or a related field. A record of ongoing research productivity in the field of Management (including organizational behavior, strategic management, and entrepreneurship). Prior experience or demonstrated ability to use learning technologies, such as learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace). Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts.
