Work Schedule
8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday with 'on-call' designation.
This position is designated as 'mandatory' and, when contacted to report to work, is expected to reach the campus as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position is expected to perform all general maintenance work including drywall repair, minor plumbing repair, carpentry, painting, cabinets, furniture repair. flooring repair, replacing light bulbs, adjusting doors and windows, and ceiling tile replacement. This position may also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components in assigned buildings.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Essential Job Duties

  • This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Building Trades) with a specialty in general repair (Cabinet repair, Carpentry, Painting. Plastering. or Roofing).
  • The position is considered to be fully functioning in a particular trade area.
  • This position is expected to perform all general maintenance work.
  • Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components in the assigned zone or core maintenance.

Other Work Responsibilities
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Three to five years experience in facilities maintenance trade.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills Drywall repair, minor plumbing repair, carpentry, painting, repairing cabinets, furniture repair. flooring repair, replacing light bulbs, adjusting doors and windows, and ceiling tile replacement.

Necessary Licenses or Certifications
Positions may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.
