Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to be based out of New Bedford, MA. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for implementing and executing preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance programs, in alignment with Atkore's Maintenance Excellence strategy. This person will create, implement, maintain, and continuously improve these programs to ensure equipment availability and reliability to guarantee business needs and satisfy our customers.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years' experience in maintenance within the manufacturing industry, and 3+ years supervisory experience. Experience with CMMS, and lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a requirement.

What you'll do:



  • Implement and improve Atkore's Maintenance Excellence strategy.
  • Implement Total Productive Maintenance pillars (TPM).
  • Maintain and improve preventive maintenance program for the plant.
  • Develop and standardize use of CMMS.
  • Train and coach maintenance technicians on the use of the CMMS.
  • Train maintenance technicians to perform job duties.
  • Prioritize and assign work orders.
  • Supervise a unionized plant maintenance workforce and manage vacation schedules and overtime.
  • Ensure closure of corrective actions assigned to maintenance based on root cause analyses from equipment breakdown, safety incidents, quality non-conformances, and customer complaints.
  • Track program compliance and effectiveness.
  • Ensure critical spare parts are available in the storeroom and all parts and tools necessary to successfully perform planned maintenance activities.
  • Manage supplier/vendor relationships.
  • Evaluate functionality and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by conferring with operating departments, identifying problems and requirements.
  • Maintain function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by implementing a preventive maintenance program; operating and testing systems and equipment; restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Analyze historical data and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.


What you'll bring:



  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years' experience in the manufacturing industry
  • 3+ years supervisory experience
  • Electrical, controls and mechanical troubleshooting skills of industrial equipment is required
  • Wire and cable experience is desirable, especially in extrusion and cabling
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience implementing and/or using CMMS
  • Must have knowledge of OSHA mandated regulations
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in managing hourly labor hours and repairs and maintenance spending budgets
  • Excellent ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, both written and verbal
  • Lean Manufacturing experience is required, especially using TPM
  • Strong interpersonal, change management, project management, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to lead teams; supervising a unionized workforce is a plus
  • Must be able to work OT on short notice

Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore Onboarding and Immersion Plan
  • Work in partnership with maintenance team and plant leadership to fully understand Atkore's Maintenance Excellence initiative, CMMS, and corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance systems
  • Active participation in daily gemba walks and maintenance meetings
  • Assist and coach your team members


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Full ownership and accountability for execution of preventive maintenance plan
  • Drive corrective maintenance and track maintenance KPIs
  • Full use of the CMMS
  • Fully understand areas of opportunity to improve our maintenance system and KPIs
  • Create cross-training and development plan for your team members


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Implement sustainable processes to improve our maintenance system
  • Demonstrate improved maintenance KPIs and equipment availability and reliability
  • Drive Atkore's Maintenance Excellence initiative and show improved assessment score
  • Identify, justify, and submit Capital Expenditure Requests
  • Develop your team members
