The opportunity

Reporting to the BaSIS Operations Manager, the SIS Access Specialist is responsible for SIS (Student Information System) access, and supporting system and data security. Working together with Southern New Hampshire University's Information Security Team, this team member will ensure understanding between roles/permissions and job responsibilities for system access. The SIS Access Specialist will improve by reviewing roles and working with partners to ensure the principle of least permission is upheld for the school's data.

In this remote role, you will oversee the completion of access requests for the SIS and supporting systems, ensuring Service Desk partners have support and follow all procedures. This team member is also responsible for related documentation, quarterly access reviews, and contributes to the annual system audit. Although focused on the Student Information System, and supporting systems, you will also work with other systems in the SNHU integrated environment to ensure consistency of data access throughout the data lifecycle. #LI-Remote

What you'll do:

  • Understand and provide team guidance on data security policies and protocol. Based on system functionality and ongoing security needs, develop new and update existing policies.

  • Support Service Desk personnel in vetting system access requests for compliance and approve/deny such requests.

  • Gain familiarity with the types of data in the system and assist partners in gaining the access that best meets their needs without compromising security. Work with partners to narrow access required for different roles.

  • Oversee periodic/quarterly access reviews in compliance with SNHU policy.

  • Play a central role in the SNHU's yearly compliance audit. Provide accurate information to support auditor requests, and act as a lead on any mitigations required. Exercise system knowledge to understand how to provide information that is and accurate.

  • Develop and maintain templates related to specific roles.

  • Working with SNHU's Information Security Team, improve and efficiency of process.

  • Work toward automation of the access request lifecycle wherever possible.

  • Create documentation related to granting/removing permission, system roles, and related processes.

  • Test roles and permissions to ensure access operates as expected.

  • Gain familiarity with system functionality to assist with general system support.

  • Gain familiarity with system logs and alerts related to security.

  • Work with incident teams to understand and resolve issues to security and data.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

What we're looking for:

  • Years of experience: 4+ years relevant experience. Relevant experience includes clear demonstration of analyst domain expertise and successful maintenance of strict Service level agreements and audit management. Background on access management and industry-standard security regulations expected. Experience should include support of applications from requirements through production use, and should reflect successful demonstration of superb technical skills

  • Degree(s): Bachelor's degree

  • Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable: X Yes No

  • Experience with the Banner Student Information System, the Student module including its data model.

  • Experience with access management provisioning of DegreeWorks, Argos, Automic, Ellucian Workflow, TouchNet.

  • Experience with higher education concepts and technical possible effects

  • Understanding of Software/System Development Lifecycle.

  • Familiarity with performance testing and tuning approaches.

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $68,669.00 - $109,891.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $75,879.00 - $102,659.00.
