LMS System Administrator - Central Campus
PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for managing and maintaining the College's learning management system, associated tools, and integrations to ensure optimal performance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides system-level support, maintenance, and management of the LMS platform and integrated tools ensuring optimal performance.
- Responsible for monitoring reoccurring issues, system/data or process gaps and proactively identifying potential solutions to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Provides implementation support for associated tools, including upgrades, customization, integration and testing.
- Develops, analyzes, documents and maintains processes and procedures related to administration of the LMS, which include critical start-of-term and end of term processes.
- Monitor system updates and integrations to ensure the LMS and integrated tools remain up-to-date and fully functional. Collaborates as needed with ITS teams.
- Ensures system stability and security through regular monitoring and maintenance which includes checking event logs for anomalies and resolving issues promptly.
- Ensures quality assurance processes are being followed, including service levels as outlined in the Blackboard Service Level Agreement and change control procedures.
- Creates and maintains standards, procedures, and documentation related to area of responsibility.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to define root causes, assess and resolve issues quickly, improve systems, and establish preventive measures for the future.
- Knowledgeable in Python, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Java.
- Knowledgeable in the technical aspects of operating system security and related application development activities.
- Knowledgeable in the latest developments in technology, including emerging technologies and integration technologies.
- Working knowledge of SQL, Snowflake, ETL, and database design.
- Experience implementing RESTful APIs and demonstrated proficiency with API concepts and design.
- Exceptional attention to detail, excellent work ethic and drive, great interpersonal skills, team oriented, and demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills, and ability to manage expectations effectively when handling multiple assignments simultaneously with competing deadlines.
- Must be highly organized and possess excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited institution or an associate degree in Computer Information Technology or related field from an accredited institution and at least four (4) years of related work experience
Preferred Education:
- Master's degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited institution.
Required Experience:
- Minimum (4) years of related system administration work experience required.
Preferred Experience:
- Blackboard or other Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience in Higher Education preferred.
