Moog WNY Defense has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Program Manager on a unique, new program that will utilize resources and product development across several SDG Business Units, in both the Defense and Space sectors. This large-scale program is in the critical interest of national security and presents a great opportunity for a Staff PM to join at the ground floor of a large new business pursuit. The ideal candidate will be counted on to promote strategy, influence stakeholders across the SDG business units, and most importantly, proactively manage the successful, hands-on execution of the program. The successful candidate will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY Plant 20.

Staff Program Manager

Working closely with Business Unit Leadership, the Staff Program Manager works with a team of experienced Program Managers and other stakeholders in supporting the efforts from the proposal phase, through design, and transition to production, all in support of "equipping those who defend freedom".

Here's what you will be doing:

  • Oversee Development and Production programs.
  • Coordinate with the PM team to forecast and document the required personnel needs (engineering, supply chain, technicians, etc.) for each program.
  • Work with the project teams to ensure that the contractual requirements for hardware, software, delivery, etc., are met through planning, monitoring, and expediting.
  • Potentially supervise 2-6 direct reporting Program Managers.
  • Interface with Moog's customer base concerning program status, issue resolution, new business, etc.
  • Lead project teams with the generation of program-specific master schedules for production, engineering, etc., through coordination and collaboration with customers, as required.
  • Monitor overall programs' costs, schedules, task completions and deliveries for performance against schedules and work with the team to take appropriate action.
  • Lead the efforts to update and report individual program status, major events, issues, etc., to senior leaders inside and outside of the organization, including information concerning status of current programs, leads on new business, trends in hardware issues, and program pricing.
  • As a member of the leadership team, support all aspects of new business proposal development including providing inputs to Sales Managers for development of bookings and Sales Forecasts.

Here's what you need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (preferably engineering), and a minimum of ten years of program related work experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Must be familiar with methods, procedures and techniques used in quality and material control systems.
  • Must have excellent listening, collaboration, and persuasive skills to both understand, explain, and expedite when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are a must to handle internal and external customers in a positive manner regarding information impacting their programs.
  • Must have excellent writing skills for customer and Moog communications as well as proposal work.
  • Ability to organize and influence people, and an outstanding ability to communicate and facilitate with a highly collaborative and consensus-driven leadership approach.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with formal project management, including use of project management tools.
  • Earned Value Management experience, preferred.
  • Ability to access US export-controlled information (ITAR).
  • Ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $120,000.00-$170,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
