  • Redevelop our current data warehouse into a consolidated, scalable data infrastructure that supports both traditional needs and advanced analytics (including AI/ML and predictive modeling). Establish and enforce strong data governance policies focusing on integrity, quality, and security;
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a technical team to manage data pipelines, ETL processes, and infrastructure, reducing reliance on the internal Technology team. Ensure your team follows industry best practices and is fully capable of supporting all data needs across the business;
  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of analytics professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring alignment with the company's objectives. Provide mentorship and technical direction for both the existing analytics team and the newly built technical team;
  • Partner with various business leaders to understand their data needs and ensure timely, accurate insights that support strategic initiatives. Drive the development of dashboards, reports, and tools that empower teams to make data-driven decisions independently, while establishing a process to review and validate analyses before they are shared company-wide;
  • Develop advanced predictive models and analyze the cause and effect of changes. Implement incremental measurement techniques to evaluate the impact of business decisions and optimize strategies across departments; and
  • Stay ahead of trends and technological advancements in data infrastructure and analytics. Continuously assess and propose improvements to tools, systems, and processes to drive operational efficiency and data innovation.

Proficiencies:

  • Established track record of building and leading high-performing data teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and knowledge sharing;
  • In-depth understanding of modern data governance, security, and compliance best practices, with the ability to balance data accessibility with data integrity for data-driven projects;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to 'translate' between the data and the business, via layman's terminology of complex analytical methods;
  • A strong interest in analyzing and interpreting structured and unstructured data, drawing conclusions, and building strategic insights based on quantitative and qualitative research;
  • Strong technical foundation in data engineering and infrastructure with a modern data stack (GCP or Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Fivetran);
  • Experience automating data workflows and cleaning messy data with modern tools (Dataform or dbt);
  • Experience with BI tools and visualizing data (Metabase, Looker, Tableau, PowerBI or similar);
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python;
  • Player/coach leadership style, balancing hands-on work with team management; and
  • Strong project management, planning and prioritization skills.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related field; and
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a pivotal data leadership role, which involved leading a comprehensive data strategy.
