We have an opening for a Managing Director, Global IT.

Reporting to the CIO, this role is responsible for the delivery of all IT Infrastructure, IT Systems, and IT Support used to enable business capabilities and services across Paul Hastings. As a key member of the senior IT leadership team this role contributes to the development and execution of the Global IT strategy and is responsible for ensuring the strategy is fully aligned to the evolving priorities of the business.

In this capacity, the Managing Director, Global IT will:

  • Lead and oversee 24x7 IT operations, ensuring high availability and reliability of IT systems crucial to the firm's global operations;
  • Sets the mission, vision, and strategy of the Global IT organization to maximize the success of business and IT enterprise initiatives;
  • Introduces innovative, differentiating infrastructure and operations capabilities that enhance our overall competitive capabilities and enhance employee productivity;
  • Works with the IT senior leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources, including budget. Works with key stakeholders to measure and prioritize technical debt remediation;
  • Builds successful stakeholder relationships with other IT and business key stakeholders by developing a clear understanding of business needs, acting as a trusted advisor, and ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs;
  • Defines, develops, and manages a comprehensive and integrated IT Service Management (ITSM) landscape, based on best-practice processes, disciplines, and related toolsets. This includes delivery of a comprehensive IT asset management program;
  • Collaborates with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to ensure Global IT contributes to, embraces, and applies security strategy;
  • Keeps track of trends and provides direction on what emerging technologies should be incorporated into Global IT products and services to successfully deliver overall IT strategy; and
  • Provides strategic direction and oversight for the full life cycle of IT systems, working in close partnership with peers, and identifies where common approaches, solutions, and shared platforms provided by Global IT could drive efficiency.

Proficiencies:

  • Expert knowledge in managing Global IT within a 24x7 global infrastructure;
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and lead teams across different geographic locations and cultures;
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, capable of effectively managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring alignment with the firm's operational objectives;
  • Skilled in resolving conflicts and negotiating effectively with stakeholders and team members to achieve incident resolution and problem management objectives;
  • Ability to think strategically about the long-term impact of incidents and problems on business operations and IT services, proposing solutions that align with organizational goals;
  • High level of emotional intelligence to manage stress and pressure effectively while leading and motivating teams during high-stress incident and problem resolution processes;
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in complex environments where resources required for success may not be in direct control of this role;
  • Ability to build consensus, make decisions based on many variables, and gain support for major initiatives;
  • Supporting the shift from Capex to Opex with processes - e.g., those to comprehensively manage and optimize cloud costs in a collaborative fashion;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic staffing plan that ensures the right people are in the right roles at the right time, and employees are highly engaged and satisfied; and
  • Leading cloud adoption (at scale), including establishing governance mechanisms, delivering migration projects and modifying Global IT's target operating model.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, with a strong foundation in IT operations and security practices;
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in Global IT, with at least 10 years in a leadership role, preferably within a high availability and confidential environment;
  • Certifications in ITIL, or equivalent IT service management frameworks, with a deep understanding of their application in a 24x7 operational context; and
  • Demonstrated experience in leading Global IT with a global footprint, including managing incident response, system outages, and IT infrastructure optimization.
