Position Summary Information
Minimum Qualifications |
- Earned doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration or Leadership or a closely related area. ABD candidates will be considered, but the position requires successful completion of the dissertation defense by the position start date.
- Prior experience working in higher education and/or student affairs-related positions.
- Demonstrated experience or (potential for success) teaching graduate-level courses through hybrid, online, and in-person delivery.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity or the potential for success in research and scholarship.
- Ability to develop instructional assignments and syllabi that are current and relevant to issues faced by professionals in contemporary institutions of higher education.
- Active engagement in service to their institution and/or profession.

- Ability to integrate theory and practice through teaching and scholarly activities.
- Expertise in higher education policy, leadership, holistic student success, governance, organizational theory, higher education finance, institutional/organizational and community contexts (e.g., community colleges, rural-serving institutions), or quantitativeresearch methods.

- Demonstrated adherence to best practices in course design and course delivery and active engagement in professional development to inform their teaching.

Description of the Department or Unit |
The Department of Counseling, Family Therapy, and Higher Education (
CTH) department offers graduate programs in Higher Education and Student Affairs as well as Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Professional School Counseling, and Marriage and Family Therapy. We also offer graduate certificates in Expressive Arts Therapy, Addiction Counseling, and College and University Teaching.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- This position carries a 3-3 course load for fall and spring semesters, with the option of teaching additional summer courses as available.
- Teach courses in person and online for the M.A., Ed.D., and undergraduate leadership studies minor.
- Conduct research and publish scholarship.
- Chair and serve on doctoral dissertation committees.
- Provide service to the program, department, Reich College of Education (RCOE),university, and field of student affairs and higher education.

ABD Description |
ABD with reduction in rank and salary:
ABD will be considered for this position. Evidence of successful defense of the dissertation must be received by July 31 for a fall hire or November 30 for a spring hire. If confirmation of defense is not provided by the deadline, the candidate will receive a new one-year fixed-term contract and be hired at the rank of Instructor. The candidate's salary will also be reduced to a lower rate commensurate with other full-time instructors in the same department. However, if degree verification is provided before the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, the candidate will be returned to the rank of assistant professor with commensurate compensation beginning July 1 of the following academic year.
No ABD consideration: Only candidates with an earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution will be considered for the position. Since
ABD will not meet the minimum requirements,
ABD will not be considered. |
