Job Description

The Department of Pathology & Genomic Medicine of the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University is recruiting an accomplished Director of Molecular Pathology. The applicant must have an M.D., M.D./Ph.D. or have a Ph.D. with subspecialty training and board certification in Molecular Genetics Pathology.

The successful candidate has proven expertise in molecular subspecialty such as molecular diagnostics, molecular genomics, laboratory genetics & genomics or molecular microbiology, and bioinformatics. Advanced practical and diagnostic skills in next generation sequencing are required. Proficiency in the interpretation of results, collaboration with clinicians and researchers and technologists are a must. The candidate must have demonstrated experience and knowledge in technology, regulatory requirements, and creation of clinical reporting, data storage, bioinformatics, and administration of a CLIA laboratory.

The successful candidate will engage in scholarly activities such as basic, clinical and/or translational research; participation in department research seminars, seeking extramural funding for support of research activities. Active participation in teaching medical students, residents and fellows are required; must possess excellent communication skills. Medical licensure in Pennsylvania is also required.
