Company Description
We are a leading manufacturer of water valves and fire hydrants. We are a division of McWane Corportation with sister companies in the US and Canada.The Iowa Valve Company was established in Oskaloosa in 1909 by W W Corey and Herman W Read to build hydrants and valves. The original location of "THE VALVE" is the current Machine Shop location on South Second St. the original buildings are still part of that facility. The Eddy Valve Company was founded in 1849 by George Eddy in Waterford New York. In 1878 Clow was formed in Chicago as a jobber of wrought iron pipe and other foundry products. The company was then known as James B Clow and Sons. Clow acquired Eddy Valve in 1945 and Iowa Valve in 1947. These were operated separately at their original locations until 1970 when they were merged in Oskaloosa under Clow Corporation, Valve Division. Clow Valve's Metal Casting Facility has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Mechanic. 3rd Shift Position Starting Wage: $25.96 Health insurance available after 60 days $1500 sign on bonus after 120 day probationary period Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Repairing, maintaining, installing, lubricating, troubleshooting and adjusting machines and equipment. Performing routine inspection on Metal Casting Facility equipment. Perform routine lubrication and cleaning of Metal Casting Facility equipment. Perform minor repairs on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment and machines. Use of common hardware including: bolts, pipe fittings, etc. Preventative maintenance of Metal Casting Facility equipment and machinery. Operate fork trucks, lifts, and conveyors. Welding and minor fabrications. QualificationsLifting/carrying of less than 50 pounds. Frequent bending, pushing, pulling, reaching & twisting up to 90 times per hour. Standing & walking 8 to 10 hours per day. Ability to move neck forward/back & turn right/left, kneel, squat, & climb using arms and legs. Repetitive use of both hands & fingers to grasp, flex, extend, exert force, wear gloves, & utilize tools. Frequent work in extreme temperature conditions inside & outside including but not limited to working on slippery, uneven, unstable surfaces. Ability to work with hands in water, around machinery, at unprotected heights, with dust & fumes & operate a crane, truck, forklift & other moving vehicles. Applicant must have 2-4 years verifiable maintenance mechanic experience, preferably in an industrial/ manufacturing setting. Tech degree is a strong plus. Ability to wear applicable PPE including: safety glasses, metatarsal guarded boots, hearing protection, respirators, welding mask, etc. Ability to recognize and utilize all basic and portable power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
