Overview
SSOE is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Structural Engineering Discipline Leader for our Solar/Battery Practice, who develops innovative projects in a transformational and growth sector. Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities:
Technical Expertise: Act as Structural Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Battery and Solar manufacturing projects to ensure technical excellence. Make independent decisions on engineering challenges, practices, and methods, crafting innovative design solutions. Prepare studies and technical specifications to support project development.
- Client Engagement: Provide expert advisory services on battery and solar manufacturing projects. Actively participate in meetings and conferences, representing the firm, engaging in discussions on critical issues, and aligning project strategies.
- Technical Project Leadership: Lead the planning, development, and coordination of medium to large engineering projects or portfolio of complex projects. Work closely with disciplines and project / program managers to ensure project success. Perform independent design, review, and assurance tasks to maintain high standards of technical quality. Manage discipline quality procedures, including project evaluations and technical recommendations.
- Growing Our Business: Engage in business development activities, including scoping and pricing work, and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Developing Our Teams: Provide guidance, mentoring and coaching of less experienced staff.
- Travel required.

- Competitive Salary: $130k - $180k / year depending on location, education, experience, and certifications.

Qualifications
What You'll Need on Day One:
- A bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited university program.
- A PE (Professional Engineer) or SE (Structural Engineer) license with the ability to become registered in additional states.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering design of complex industrial projects. Experience in solar/battery manufacturing or related projects is required.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proven track record in client relationship management.
- Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese speakers a plus.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Valid passport required for occasional project-related international travel.
