Position Summary: Vallen Distribution is committed to delivering cutting-edge IT solutions that drive business growth and efficiency. We are seeking a talented and experienced IT/Cyber Security Manager to join our dynamic IT infrastructure team. This role is integral to maintaining and enhancing our cybersecurity posture, ensuring the protection of assets, compliance with regulations, and alignment with corporate policies. The IT Security Manager will oversee the Security Engineer and Cybersecurity Analyst, combining technical expertise and strategic leadership to strengthen the organization's security posture. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a North American cybersecurity strategy aligned with global corporate goals.
- Manage and mentor security staff, aligning daily operations with long-term goals.
- Act as the primary point of contact for cybersecurity issues and initiatives.
- Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of technical security tools (e.g., SIEM, firewalls, endpoint protection).
- Oversee relationships with third-party security providers, ensuring effective delivery of services such as firewall management, Security Operations Center (SOC) operations, threat hunting, and vulnerability management. Collaborate with vendors to align their services with organizational security objectives and maintain service quality.
- Develop and enforce patch management policies, ensuring timely application of updates across systems to minimize exposure to threats while maintaining system stability. Collaborate with IT teams to align patching schedules with operational needs and compliance requirements.
- Monitor the effectiveness of security systems, identify potential vulnerabilities, and implement remediation strategies.
- Develop, maintain, and execute a robust incident response plan, ensuring rapid identification, containment, eradication, and recovery from security incidents.
- Coordinate incident response efforts across teams to ensure effective resolution and timely updates to stakeholders.
- Conduct post-incident reviews to identify root causes, assess impact, and implement lessons learned to improve security controls and processes.
- Oversee threat hunting and proactive monitoring activities to detect potential breaches before they escalate into incidents.
- Conduct risk assessments, ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001), and support audits.
- Maintain North America IT Security metrics and reporting.
- Develop, update and enforce security policies and procedures, collaborating with the team to address emerging threats.
- Collaborate with IT Infrastructure, Application, and Support teams to ensure security is embedded in all aspects of IT operations.
- Work with IT teams to integrate security into operations and act as the primary liaison with external auditors and vendors.
- Monitor security trends and evaluate technologies to enhance defenses.
Staff Management Responsibilities: Direct management of a department, section, unit or group involving responsibility for results in terms of cost, methods and personnel. Full accountability for hiring, discipline, discharge, performance appraisals, salary administration, etc.
Job Qualifications: Education requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a mid to large-sized enterprise or corporate environment.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, security, and best practices.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC are a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
