PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Mechanical Commissioning Lead will oversee the coordination, planning, and execution of all mechanical pre-commissioning activities, ensuring the seamless integration of systems and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards. This role is pivotal in delivering Worley's commitment to sustainable energy solutions and ensuring the readiness of mechanical systems for commissioning and operational success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Management: Implement project safety management systems during the planning and execution of pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup phases, tailored to specific needs and risks.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Performance: Ensure top-tier health, safety, and environmental performance for all personnel and facilities during pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.

Execution Planning: Assist in developing and implementing detailed execution plans for non-energized and energized testing activities, fully integrated with project schedules and budgets.

System Compliance: Ensure compliance with engineering procedures, international codes, standards, and approved practices, reviewing and approving all mechanical engineering documents for pre-commissioning and commissioning.

Documentation and Reporting: Contribute to the Completions Management Systems (CMS), including reviewing and approving project-specific Inspection Test Records (ITRs) and other necessary documentation.

Team Coordination: Develop and communicate requirements for mechanical materials, resources, and external services for pre-commissioning, ensuring their timely availability and effective use.

Vendor Coordination: Oversee the coordination of vendor representatives required during pre-commissioning, ensuring their activities align with project goals.

Progress Monitoring: Report daily progress, ensuring issues, risks, and concerns are communicated and addressed, leading daily execution kick-off meetings and toolbox talks.

Incident Management: Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, presenting reports and implementing corrective actions.

Operational Support: Cooperate with the CSU Operations team during commissioning and startup activities, ensuring the safe and timely execution of all pre-commissioning tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILL SET

Educational Background: A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or a Journeyman's Certificate with relevant experience.

Professional Experience: Experience in commissioning or maintenance roles, including in a commissioning lead position, with extensive experience in power generation, petrochemicals, or oil and gas sectors.

Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of computerized project completion and certification systems, EPC contract management, and the use of procedures and workflows in project execution.

Leadership and Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and motivate a diverse team.

Risk and Compliance Management: Thorough understanding of risks and technical/commercial issues in oil and gas projects, with a strong track record of safe project delivery.

Software Skills: Proficiency in relevant software tools for design review, reporting, and project management.

System Knowledge: Functional understanding of all project discipline systems, design, and reporting processes, with the ability to ensure certification and handovers against schedules.

Safety Processes: Fluent understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) processes and Permit to Work systems.

Personal Attributes: Strong character with the ability to gain respect, build high-performance teams, and foster strong relationships within the workforce.
