Moog is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Space and Defense Mechanical Design Analysis Engineering team. You will provide engineering leadership, project leadership, business leadership and engineering process ownership for your team. You will provide and assign the appropriate engineering resources on projects, manage the performance of your direct reports, maintain, and improve engineering processes, and ensure project milestones are met. As an industry leader in space avionics, actuation and mechanisms, propulsion, power, structures, and shock & vibration control, Moog has been committed to the space industry for more than 60 years and Moog products have been to every planet.

Here's what you'll be working on day to day:

  • As part of the Actuation and Avionics Business Unit, the incumbent will participate with other Engineering Managers as a member of the Engineering Shared Services Leadership Team. This team sets direction and develops processes for Mechanical Design Analysis, Drafting, and Test Equipment Design, Build, and Sustainment.
  • Oversee Team Leads and team members providing goals, feedback and developing talent through career planning and progression. Actively demonstrate Performance Management of resources to optimize skills and capabilities.
  • Demonstrate and foster development of knowledge across all engineering domains, to include requirements for new business/concept designs, mechanical design and analysis, verification and validation as it pertains to mechanical analysis, and anomaly resolution/root case investigations.
  • Manage the Mechanical Design Analysis team capacity and planning process through active recruiting and retention of accomplished employees.
  • Manage execution of work by teams and team members through monitoring progress and providing technical direction.
  • Mentor direct reports in all aspects of Engineering and Engineering career development. Model Engineering industry best practices, Moog core values, to promote development of world-class Engineering talent.
  • Support new programs through trade studies, concept development, proposal responses, and customer presentations.
  • Manage the advancement of the Mechanical Design Analysis development process by providing technical support, developing tools and infrastructure, facilitates learning and continuity across teams.
  • Participate on critical programs to complete mechanical analyses, including but not limited to stress, deflection, thermal, fatigue and fracture analyses.

To be considered for this role, here are the skills you'll bring with you...

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with 10+ years' relevant technical experience OR
    • Master of Science Degree in Engineering with 8+ years' relevant technical experience.
  • Self-motivation, critical thinking, and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, finite element analysis, finite difference analysis, and general material characteristics.
  • Demonstrated strong technical written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across sites to achieve common goals.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $120,000.00-$160,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
