Description

We have an exciting opportunity to lead the Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) virtual teams to deliver industry leading water and wastewater designs to our clients. We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical/I&C Engineer to serve as the EPAS Discipline Leader for a portfolio of clients located in the Midwest Area. This is a highly strategic position that requires a proven leader experienced with design delivery, and EPAS engineering design of water and wastewater facilities.

This candidate will lead a team of fellow electrical and I&C engineers located in multiple offices. As the discipline leader, this candidate will manage group workload, hiring, and project assignments, as well as provide mentoring and performance feedback for group employees. Key objectives of the EPAS Discipline Leader role are to: represent the discipline within the Portfolio delivery team, ensure the discipline has the resources to deliver all design projects in the Portfolio, support the Client Service Teams and Portfolio Design Manager to ensure successful project delivery and support the Portfolio Chief Engineer to ensure successful quality assurance and control of project deliverables.

Job Expectations:



  • Lead Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls employees; evaluate annual performance, manage performance, mentor, and train.
  • Facilitate regular communications and/or meetings with the Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls team to discuss design delivery needs.
  • Be responsive to Project Managers (PMs) and Design Managers (DMs) in Local offices.
  • Work with PMs and DMs on project planning and set-up, including project budgeting and staffing.
  • Discuss options with the PM/DM regarding staffing, schedule, or scope adjustments and escalate issues as required.
  • Manage subcontracted Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls discipline resources
  • Build relationships with fellow Portfolio Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls Discipline Leaders and the National Practice Leader within Brown and Caldwell to solve problems with resources, workload, technical issues, design workflow, quality, efficiency, etc.
  • Look for opportunities to cross train staff in other disciplines and share staff across disciplines.
  • Participate in technical leadership meetings for the Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls discipline and provide direction to the team based on information from these meetings.
  • Provide leadership for the development of Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls standards (e.g., specifications, standard details, etc.) and work with the National Practice Leader to coordinate resources for standards creation and production.
  • Maintain workload tracking tool for the Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls discipline to maintain an understanding of the team's workload and staffing gaps that may be present.
  • Build lists and relationships with subconsultants and on call resources.
  • Track and strategize professional engineer registration for your discipline to provide coverage for upcoming opportunities and projects.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews for projects and help ensure all project deliverables meet BC standards.
  • Represent the discipline to the Portfolio Client Sales Team with technical sales.
  • Support the Portfolio design team in design project pursuits, scoping, and pricing.



Desired Skills and Experience:



  • B.S. degree required, M.S. degree preferred in related engineering field of Civil, Environmental, Sanitary, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility in related experience preferred.
  • Professionally registered engineer required, NCEES record preferred; license must be current and in good standing.
  • Demonstrated strong group management and design/project management skills.
  • Ability to focus on group and project needs while balancing multiple priorities to include but not limited to project management, design, bidding, and construction management services.
  • Strong technical writing skills required.
  • Successful marketing, proposal writing, project budgeting, proposal management, and public presentations experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation.
  • Successful candidate will have direct experience implementing and updating specifications and standards.
  • Effective social and management skills necessary to genuinely motivate and direct staff to produce high quality work and to maintain high individual and group morale.
  • Be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn.
  • Candidate should be a self-starter, results oriented and able to work under tight and pressured deadlines.


Salary Range:Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $131,000 - $179,000

Location B: $144,000- $197,000
