Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Administrator develops and maintains all systems, applications, security and network configurations. Responsible for installing new software releases, system upgrades, installing patches and resolving server and desktop related issues. Troubleshoots network performance issues and maintains a disaster recovery plan to include routine backup and recovery. Engineers solutions, researches, and plans for adoption of new technologies to provide a competitive advantage to the company. Establishes practices, procedures, and concepts related to Information Technology as it relates to the organization. Administers Collateral, Special Access Program (SAP) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) information systems (IS). Handles system administration and cyber security such as antivirus maintenance and patching for Classified systems, as well as end-user system support for Unclassified systems.

This is a dual-role position supporting both the Classified systems and Unclassified Enterprise.

  • Maintain customer-required Information Assurance (IA) certifications such as Security+ as required
  • Schedule, perform, and maintain records of Operating System patching, application patching, system maintenance, antivirus updates, and software/hardware changes
  • Implement and maintain system backups as needed
  • Deploy and configure desktops/laptops, printers, networking devices, and software
  • Troubleshoot network hardware/software (routers, switches, etc.)
  • Install/upgrade operating systems and application software
  • Image systems with Microsoft Development Toolkit (MDT)
  • Diagnose Windows 10, Office 2010/2013/2016 and other application issues
  • Malware and virus removal/repair
  • Track and maintain computer assets using asset management tools
  • Provides analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of hardware and software solutions
  • Manage all aspects of Windows Active Directory infrastructure
  • Installation, configuration, and support of servers, enterprise storage and associated equipment, network and direct attached storage systems and associated equipment
  • Plan and coordinate system utilization, and perform growth analysis and capacity planning
  • Review current system and make technical/process recommendations for improving efficiency
  • Develop, implement, manage, and maintain security standards, procedures, and guidelines for multiple platforms
  • Develop scripts and automation to improve operations productivity
  • Deploy servers for new or existing projects; keep deployed systems up-to-date with OS, hardware and software patches and upgrades
  • Demonstrate professionalism in response to customer requests
  • Coordinate with customers to upgrade, retire or consolidate applications and server hardware as appropriate
  • Research and/or contact vendors regarding technical problems and solutions
  • Troubleshoot servers
  • Document systems deployments and configurations

Qualifications

Classified system administration experience should include:

  • Experience administering systems in a classified environment
  • Patching and Security hardening of classified systems
  • Basic knowledge of federal security requirements and mandates [e.g., RMF, Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)]
  • Security hardening and Certification & Accreditation experience desirable

Technical experience should include:

  • Strong Microsoft Windows background with some knowledge of UNIX/LINUX
  • Knowledge of various computer software applications, hardware platforms, networking components and LAN/WAN architecture
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows Operating Systems
  • Experience managing user and group permissions in Active Directory
  • Experience troubleshooting redirected folders and offline file synchronization issues
  • Experience building, monitoring, patching, configuring and troubleshooting Windows 2008/2012/2016 servers
  • Installation and configuration of hardware and software
  • Performance tuning and Troubleshooting
  • Account maintenance
  • Proficiency in the basic Microsoft Office (365 experience preferred)
  • Experience troubleshooting common networking issues on client systems
  • Strong knowledge of standard networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and network hardware such as switches and routers
  • Experience working with business class server hardware; including hardware/firmware upgrades and troubleshooting
  • Experience with common network protocols and services (TCP/IP stack), such as DNS, SMTP, FTP, Telnet, SSH etc.
  • Experience with Storage management, such as partitioning local disks and/or SAN/NAS implementations

General experience should include:

  • Ability to lift standard PC equipment and peripherals for the purpose of installation / moves / replacements / etc. Approximately 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and tickets at the same time
  • Experience working in a corporate IT environment

Minimum Training/Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical degree; or Bachelor's degree in non-related field accepted with adequate training and experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience working in an IA-related field
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in System Administration
  • CompTIA Security+ certification

Desired Training/Education:

  • One or more enterprise level certifications such as MCSA or MCP certification
  • A+ and/or Network+ certifications
  • Experience with a major system deployment and management technology, such as Microsoft MDT/SCCM, Quest KACE, or other

Clearance Requirements:

Current DoD TOP SECRET clearance is required; US Citizenship required.
