Job Summary We're looking for a Lead Data Science Product Manager in our AI Solutions organization. We have many different domains (or thematic units) within this organization, with topics that include Claims and Payment Integrity, Member Engagement, Utilization Management, Document Intelligence, Risk Stratification, and the AI Innovation Lab. The work of each domain is generally led by 1 (or sometimes 2) Product Managers, who engage senior and executive leadership in the domain area to understand their most significant business challenges, design new data science products and solutions to automate or enable better decision making to address these challenges, build long-term product roadmaps, scale and deliver on those products by working within cross-functional data science, IT, and business teams, and provide overall product leadership for one or more of our machine learning and AI initiatives. Successful candidates will also have indirect leadership over data scientists and engineers assigned to these initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the adoption of AI to transform one of HCSC's core capabilities and drive tremendous impact for our customers and members.

An ideal candidate is someone who has a demonstrated track record of leading or delivering analytical projects and products with measurable value, can see the big picture and effectively communicate with executives, has an ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and has a laser-focused customer and user-centric mindset.

Note that while this position requires an understanding of data science, machine learning, and AI and its applications, it is not a technical role. We are looking for a business person who has a strong technical background that can lead and indirectly influence both IT and business teams to scale and deploy models in a complex organizational environment.

Job Purpose:
Serves as the business interface of the team to deliver predictive / prescriptive analytics, as well as descriptive reports / dashboards, as needed; accountable for the operationalization of data science solutions.

The focus of this open role is to be the Lead Product Manager in the "Claims / Payment Integrity" domain of AI Solution.

Job Responsibilities:

  • AI and machine learning Solution Delivery: Take accountability for the delivery of technically sound AI and ethically responsible analytics solutions in a particular domain area. Thoroughly evaluate the risks and benefits of proposed solutions and concept the end-to-end implementation.

  • Product Roadmap: Work with divisional and department leaders to develop and own the AI and analytics solution roadmap for a domain area. This involves a deep understanding of the business and effective relationship management.

  • Continuous improvement: Collaborate with data scientists, other data science product managers, and data engineers to improve the way AI solutions are delivered.

  • Requirements gathering: Work with stakeholders and leaders to ensure that models and analytics solutions are consumable by the business through the development of clear and comprehensive business requirements.

  • Managing AI "Products" rather than "Projects": Maintain visibility into the maintenance product ownership for AI asset maintenance, including roadmapping of future enhancements prioritizing bug fixes

  • Backlog management: Manage the AI Solutions product backlog for your domain and prioritize requests in alignment with the overall product strategy.

  • Leadership: Collaborate closely with divisional and departmental leaders across different business units to develop AI solutions, sometimes taking direction and sometimes using influence to help drive change

  • Product Leadership: Provide AI product leadership to your domain team and assigned stakeholders.

Required Job Qualifications:
* Bachelor degree and 5 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field OR Actuarial credential or Master degree and 4 years of work experience in an advanced mathematical, statistical , engineering, physics or related quantitative field OR Ph.D. and 2 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field OR 8 years of work experience in an advanced mathematical, statistical , engineering, physics or related quantitative field
* Must demonstrate proficiency in at least four of the following six areas: 1) data analysis and relational-style query languages; 2) machine learning and/or statistical modeling; 3) data visualization; 4) a high-level programming language; 5) distributed computing; 6) understanding of healthcare.

* A track record of independently delivering or leading the delivery of multiple complex analytics or data science projects

Preferred Job Qualifications:
* Previous product management experience
* Previous experience working with insurance claims systems and/or healthcare experience
* Experience with Iterative / Agile / Scrum development

*Experience successfully implementing at-scale A.I. solutions in cloud environments

Base Pay Range$107,300.00 - $193,800.00
