Position Summary

The Sr Safety Health & Environmental Manager has an area oversight responsibility for the Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems, in alignment with the company's National Platform for Environmental, Health and Safety management. This position will serve as a catalyst and expert resource to promote and develop an innovative and proactive safety culture within each organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Strategic Leadership/Partnership, Change Management, Performance Driver/CoachE&S functional expert and change agent to drive behavior-based safety programs, injury free culture, environmental excellence, and continuous performance improvement.
  • Integrate and drive functional efforts to achieve and maintain third party E&S certification on.
  • Collaborate with other facility functions (purchasing, engineering, maintenance, quality assurance, etc.) to ensure new products, capital projects and functional activities are aligned with facility E&S objectives and injury prevention.
  • Administer training programs for safety accident prevention and protection, and environmental management.

Technical/Operational Management:

  • Coordinate and oversees E&S performance, prevention and directs activities at the facility.
  • Technical resource and Team Leader for E&S activities at the facility.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure facility, associate and contractor compliance with company and regulatory agency safety and environmental policies, including related federal, state, and local legislation and regulations.
  • Actively participate on corporate/divisional E&S teams.

The SH&E Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager, with a dotted line reporting responsibility to the SH&E Corporate Manager. This is a high-profile role with influence to shape the culture of this manufacturing location.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental and/or Safety discipline required.
  • 10 years experience in coordinating safety/loss control/risk management/environmental/occupational health activities and compliance/record keeping in manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with E&S programs including: hazardous and non-hazardous waste, wastewater, air permitting, chemical management, natural resource management, energy control, confined space entry, hazard communication, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and forklift safety.
